The Amazing Race stop in Vancouver enroute to Banff. pic.twitter.com/iS9m2vtE

Since they are leaving at 7 AM and 8 AM this morning (Tuesday) for a 9-10 hour bus ride to Banff, they won't get there before sunset tonight and I expect an HOO. Therefore, most of the activity will likely be on Wednesday.

FULL photo credit to Jeffrey Simpson.

FYI, the signup board was in front of the Westin Bayshore hotel.

Thanks for posting the picture for me, Peach. Life interfered and I wasn't online at all yesterday. I wasn't going to post it before now anyway as I was fairly sure the bulk of the leg was going to be run in daylight today. Once I saw that the Vancouver leg was plastered all over the front page of the Vancouver Sun newspaper, I knew that it had to have been a production nightmare. I didn't want it to happen on back to back legs.

There's a better version of the sign up board for Banff at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jazzlawyer/6470202249/. It's much lighter and you can see that the name cards are in all different colors. You can also make out a bit more of the names. I can't seem to save it (it may be that the rights have been reserved), so if someone else can do so and upload it here, I'd appreciate it.

TAR Australia is on the move again today.

People from the amazing race just came through the airport.

I can't determine his location. His twitter page just says Canada and his tweets don't mention the city. He does mention eating at McDonald's and there is a McDonald's in Banff (but not in Lake Louise).

Related to the leg in Vancouver, I found a guy on twitter, @andrewtrevjones, who had some info about the kayaking task in Coal Harbour.  I asked him a couple of questions and he responded to both:

andrewtrevjones Andrew Jones
@translink We're supporting the production team on a challenge tomorrow, I'm pretty sure it was the Aussie show.

DickieDSmucker Brian
@andrewtrevjones How many teams were there and could you describe any of them?

andrewtrevjones Andrew Jones
@DickieDSmucker There were about 6 teams left and they were kayaking across Coal Harbour! @ecomarinekayak

DickieDSmucker Brian
@andrewtrevjones Cool! Was this at the Ecomarine at English Bay and did they kayak around Stanley Park? Was a great day for kayaking too!

@andrewtrevjones Andrew Jones
@DickieDSmucker No the boats were delivered to Coal Harbour specially for the amazing race.

I heard back from the guy who saw teams at the airport yesterday. He saw them in Calgary and didn't know where they were going.

@Plaidmoon I'm in Calgary, not sure where they were headed.

Let's assume that the information on Beijing is correct. That would mean the following flights were the logical ones with only one connection from Calgary to Beijing:

via Vancouver
AC203/205/207/209/211 dep. YYC 0700 to 1110 and arriving YVR 29 minutes after the same hour with adjustment from Mountain to Pacific time
connecting to AC29 YVR PEK 1240 1625+1

via Los Angeles
AC568 0800 1010 YYC LAX
connecting to CA988 1150 1640+1

via San Francisco
UA6273 YYC SFO 0735 0943
UA889   SFO PEK 1209 1625+1

Take your pick (I would take Air Canada because it gives more flexibility getting to Vancouver).
