This looks like the speedboat company they are using: http://nonthasakmarine.com/

They offer an all day charter and will probably serve as the taxis for the day as they seem to get to the RB and the Detour on them

I think at least the roadblock and maybe the detour as well are around the peninsula known as Railay Beach. It would require the speedboat trip and has great rock climbing locations that look a lot like the ones in the preview.

The Amazing Race has been in the area before. AR1 went to Railay Beach (I have seen 4 different spellings used) in episode 10. There was the famous ROADBLOCK to climb "the King" which is above Railay Beach. Amazing Race Asia 1 had a ROADBLOCK episode 8 to climb Railay East 123 Wall.  Here is a little tourist info on Railay Beach:

The beaches and stunning cliffs of Railay Beach are certainly worth a day trip, even if you don't stay there. Divided into Railay East and West, the former offers the best rock-climbing cliffs, situated next to mud flats. The West has the sort of soft powdery sands that attract beach bunnies, though longtails dock right here and the resulting noise of the motors can ruin the peacefulness of the gorgeous cerulean sea.

Do you write travel guides for a living?!

But judging by the presence of a climbing wall in Ko Panyi, I'm inclined to believe this is where we'll see the Roadblock. If I had to guess, I'd think the Detour will take place nearer Phuket, so perhaps we'll see teams venture out to Ko Panyi first before returning to Phuket itself for the Pit Stop.

It could be, both Railay and Ko Panyi are about the same distance from Phuket. I do think the roadblock is first based on several factors and in the detour caps you can that the same boats brought them to that beach.

Are the items they build and place under water, platforms to grow coral? I seem to have seen these before in Florida.

That's it, north! I have been trying to figure what those are. The coral is what they are placing in all those T joints on top. This is probably also the giving back after the earthquake part.

I was in nearby Krabi a few months ago, and it was bizarre that every wave brought in loads of tiny pieces of coral. Apparently this is due to the practise of dynamite fishing, which completely destroys any nearby coral reefs. Its not as widely practised now, and I think it may even have been outlawed, but broken coral still washes ashore on every beach!

What's with the "FORMER NFL STAR" in the preview every week. It's getting frustrating. I tend to think that it's Railay Beach too. But Thailand has got loads of small islands and they're all beach paradise and you can't be sure?

The detour locations could be anywhere, there'd be thousands of locations that could fit. The roadblock could be one of a few places. The only place we know for certain is Ko Panyi, the Muslim village on stilts.

There is a new episode preview showing M/A, B/C, and J/S all aborting the water detour due to high currents.

I cannot upload from work, will get it up later tonight.

That looks difficult, I've been out in high surf and current trying to hold on to a kayak and snorkel several times. And they have that big frame and tools with them. I wonder who's going to clean up all that junk they threw on the ocean floor

It seems like Andy and Tommy may have already finished and are maintaining their wide margin ahead. Or they just already quit. Justin and Jennifer attempted that detour as well, I wonder where they went.

Joab, they are the recruited team this season, they have to milk it for the ratings...

I'm pretty sure that is Justin up in the corner in the red shorts as well. Those two teams seem to be behind.

After watching the clip, and checking out the speedboat company Prophet posted in an earlier post, I'm 99% sure that the location of the detour is Khai Nok.

The terrain is similar, the island is low-lying and the layout of the place we are shown briefly at 1:09 matches up nicely with all the Google image results. The island is very small, so I'd imagine switching detours would be very quick and that it won't harm the twins too much.

Except that 3 strong teams have already tried and failed at the water detour... If the twins also try and fail and have to go back to the umbrella task...:duno:

My money is on Koh Khai which is further east from Khai Nok.
