CBS press release:

CBS ANNOUNCES THE TWO FORMER CASTAWAYS, OZZY LUSTH AND BENJAMIN "COACH" WADE, WHO WILL JOIN THE TRIBES ON "SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC"

LOS ANGELES Aug. 24, 2011 - CBS announced today that two former Survivors, Ozzy Lusth and Benjamin "Coach" Wade, will join the 16 previously announced castaways on SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC when the Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 23rd season with a special 90-minute edition, Wednesday, Sept. 14 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Having never been awarded the title of Sole Survivor, Ozzy and "Coach" return to compete for the $1 million prize and a last shot at redemption.  Each one will join a separate tribe of new castaways at the start of the game, but it's up to the tribe to decide if they will welcome the knowledge of an experienced veteran, or view these former castaways as a threat in the ultimate battle to outwit, outplay and outlast.

Coach and Ozzy Returning to Survivor: South Pacific

Third time's the charm?

Survivor also-rans Benjamin "Coach" Wade and Ozzy Lusth are the alums who will compete with the 16 newbies on Survivor: South Pacific, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Coach finished fifth on Tocatins and 12th on Heroes vs. Villains, while Lusth was runner-up on Cook Islands and came in ninth on Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites.

Add Survivor: South Pacific to your Watchlist before the new season begins and never miss an episode

The two will be on different tribes — either Savaii or Upolu — which will be determined by breaking an egg filled with the paint color of one of the tribes.

Although Coach and Lusth don't have a rivalry like last season's vets "Boston" Rob Mariano and Russell Hantz, host Jeff Probst says they do have something in common. "What they share together is their social games suck," Probst says. "Coach? He blew it in Heroes vs. Villains. He blew it seven different ways. And Ozzy got voted out with an idol in his hand! ... So we looked at it and said, 'Here are two guys that do have a redemption story. Yes, you've played. Yes, you're popular, but you don't know what you're doing in this game.'"

Also unlike last season, Probst believes the two will have a much harder time winning than Mariano did because, well, Mariano won.

"Boston Rob winning last season made it very difficult for Coach and Ozzy," Probst says. "We even talked about giving them immunity. We said, maybe we should give them immunity for the first Tribal Council and let them get their feet wet, and we said that's just not our show. You're on your own."

Survivor: South Pacific premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 8/7c on CBS.
