I am pretty sure they are sending videos to family/friends like in TARA 4 leg 7. Renae and Jeff were crying, and they were both alone.

So far the race has only been to 9 countries (including Australia and counting the doubleleg as two separate legs, 7 and 8)

1. Australia - (leg 1)
2. Indonesia - (leg 1)
3. Vietnam - (leg 2)
4. China - (leg 3)
5. South Africa - (leg 4 and 5)
6. Netherlands - (leg 6)
7. Czech Republic (leg 6 and 7)
8. Poland - (leg 8)
9. Israel - (leg 9)

It's been established that this season will visit 12 countries in total, we still have 3 countries left in 3 legs, so unless one or two legs visit two different countries or it's a 13-leg race, next week's episode will probably have the teams in Israel for the first half and another country (likely Sri Lanka) in the second half. What do you guys think will happen?

From one of the promos, I have determined that the 3 missing countries are:

10. Sri Lanka
11. Singapore
12. Germany

well apparentely the promo lists 12 countries, but does not include the mysterious 12th country Egypt

Your guess is as good as mine.

Germany's already been done, thanks to the train change in Berlin.

We've got a 13-leg race. The EPG lists scaling Jerusalem's old city walls as the final challenge of the episode next week. We know from the presskit that there are 3 NELs, each with the penalty. Therefore, the TBC is not included, and is counted as one leg instead of two. Grant calling it "a marathon leg" supports this. Although the ads for last night's episode mentioned there were only four episodes left, which would mean there's just three left now, it's hardly out of the ordinary for TAR to have a two-hour, two-leg finale. I'd bet what happens is this:

18 July: Jerusalem -- NEL.
25 July: Sri Lanka -- NEL.
1 August: Two hour finale. First hour: Singapore -- Elimination. Second hour: Perth -- finale.

That is so dumb, to include Germany in the country count because the teams took a train that passed through the country, that's like if you took a plane and counted every country you passed as a "visited country". And any news on this so-called "Egypt leg"?

They've done that on just about every series of the race that has involved that situation, so its not like it wasn't to be expected.

I mean if they're literally on ground and passed through the country, I think that is valid. Although only including a country which has at least one task available for the teams should be the correct way of counting the total countries visited..

Would the racers need to have their passports processed in Germany?  It would be a reason to count it then (not sure how valid though!).  Some of the fly to ... involve flying through other countries but not leaving the airport. In these scenarios you wouldn't have to go through immigration, so these definitely shouldn't be counted.

Agreed, there should be a task involved for it to be counted as a country visited.

another possibility is that the racers will visit Egypt, it's very very close to Israel, so Egypt will be the mysteriously "12th country". This will probably occur in the next episode or the one after that.

But then, Egypt is not included in the promo.

Sure is a mystery  :groan:

p.s. I find it hard to accept that the producers count germany as a country because the teams took a train that passed through the country, country count normally includes countries that have a task in them, it's absurd

(Why these video's don't embed is beyond me  :duno:)

It looks to me like the detour might be Carrying pots vs. Carrying the cross?

Also, I think the pitstop in Sri Lanka is the Independence Memorial Hall, just like TARA4

About an hour to go. As usual I'll be here to do running updates.

If I could ask for a favour, please save your opinions on teams & actions until after the show has ended (especially one line posts.) I need to be able to post quickly to do the updates effectively, and having to load up the new posts screen slows me down considerably.

Previously on blah blah blah.

Tonight- The finish lines in sight, but the strain is starting to show and the teams struggle through the holy city, will one crucial mistake be the end for Tyler and Nathan?

4 remain, who will be eliminated next?

This is Masada, one of Israels most important historic sites, the desert fortress was built over 2000 years ago by King Herod and became a symbol of the Jewish struggle for freedom.

During the Pit Stop rest period teams recorded messages for their friends back home, they must carry the memory cards with them for this leg of the race.

Matt and Tom, Jeff and Luke recorded at the Mosada, N/T and S/R recorded at the Pit Stop hotel.

Tom and Matt depart at 6:31 AM inside the Mosada.

Search King Herods Winter Palace for the next clue.

Matt and Tom will approach the leg as if they're last anyway.

Jeff and Luke depart 7:15 AM

The margin for error is getting smaller, according to Luke.

Matt and Tom's assesment of the castle- "Old."

It looks like teams have not been led by the nose where the winter palace is, both teams are having some troubles in their search, but Matt and Tom have got their clue.

Drive yourself to the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered to find your next clue (I like that clue a lot)

N/T depart at 7:56 AM

Jeff wants to leave his pack at the top, Luke says no, but Luke is happy to carry it for him. They've found the clue.

Matt and Tom are at a border crossing and Matt mentions that its for the West Bank.
Matt: "God's country"
Tom: "We come from God's country, we're from Australia"

Jeff and Luke have given N/T their map and marked it with the spot required. Nathan and Tyler are having a good clueless wander.

M/T arrive at clue- ROADBLOCK- Who is lost in translation

Chosen team member must translate a hebrew scroll to receive the next clue- The scrolls read right to left, as is normal for Hebrew.

S/R depart 8:28 AM

Sam and Renae will use every bit of push they have in their bodies to make it through to the top three.

Tom has his scroll and is starting to translate- He has a key of hebrew letters and a scroll with the text on it. Tom enjoys SuDoKu and crossword puzzles, so he hopes that will help.

N/T have their clue and are driving to the site of the Dead Sea Scrolls are- They have no clue where that is.

Matt is having a nap in the sun while Tom does the task- He's justifying it by "being quiet and letting him concentrate"

S/R are now looking for "King Herald's Winter Palace"

Tom has figured it out- "Send a message to your loved ones at the main post office at your next destination- Jerusalem"

Teams must take a taxi to Jerusalem's main post office and send the message before they can get their next clue.

Sam and Renae are stuck on the top level and haven't moved down yet like every other team did immediately.

Ad break. First one up informs us that they're taking applications for season 2.
