From the Foxtel EPG:

"The remaining teams make their way to Europe and the vibrant city of Amsterdam before heading to the Czech Republic, and friendships among teams start to splinter as the prize gets nearer".

TV GUIDE: The remaining teams make their way to Europe and the vibrant city of Amsterdam. The first challenge, to eat two traditional apple doughnuts, seems simple enough, but can everyone stomach the local delicacies? In the Czech Republic, friendships among teams start to splinter as the prize gets nearer. One team makes it clear their intentions are on the prize and not maintaining the relationships they've built up, but will it come back to haunt them? Then, some teams struggle to find the key to a damsel's heart, while delivering a princess to her castle tests the strength of others.

Looks like find the damsel and transporting the princess are the two Detours, and either the ice hockey or the archery is a Road Block, with the other being a standard Route Info.

I'm kind of over the "weapons accuracy" tasks -- breaking tiles in Macau, the knopkieries in Port Elizabeth, guns last night, and archery this week is Too Damn Many.

Whether they're optional or not is irrelevant. Four tasks testing the same skill in four consecutive episodes is ridiculous. If we were to have four brute-force "carry this heavy object over there" challenges in four episodes, everyone would be complaining. Same with four needle-in-a-haystack challenges. This is no different.

I see what you mean, but still all are relevant to the locale and don't detract at all from the episode. So far, this series has been wonderful, but the elimination order is getting old, three tough eliminations of what I consider to be the three biggest teams personality-wise...

They are mixing their promos these last weeks.
Isn't Krakow the next leg?

Quote

Chris and Anastasia: Fly to Krakow, Poland

As for traveling to Prague by train if they start from Amsterdam is quite far. Maybe the correct is travel to Krakow by train from Prague which is much closer?

Amsterdam and Prague are definitely both this week. I'm more confused about how/where they'll be fitting in the already-confirmed Germany into the route, unless they're counting the cross-Deutschland ride as a visit.

I just checked the trains from Amsterdam to Prague.Today at least there two overnight trains, that depart around 7-8pm and arrive the next morning in Prague after 14-15 hours crossing all of Germany. So I guess it is feasible and it would suit the production to have a whole day in Prague.

The promo contains tasks related to both Prague and Krakow, but I'll put it all here for now. I've just listed some tasks and teams that are seen together, hopefully it helps you all who can't see the video yet .

  • Sam & Renae, Alana & Mel, Nathan & Tyler and what I presume is Dave & Kelly all boarding a train together
  • Sam & Renae struggling with a wood sawing task (similar to TARA4 Route Info in NZ) The girls seem to struggle and Anastasia begins to realise she will too. Sam then says, "And I think Anastasia watching us realised that she didn't know how she was going to do it. And him watching her break down, it was killing him". Anastasia does cry and Chris doesn't look too happy either. There are glimpses of Jeff & Luke and Nathan & Tyler performing this too
  • Mining Task - Jeff & Luke, Nathan & Tyler do this, it appears teams need to search through trolleys for something.
  • Alana & Mel and Tyler & Nathan looking for something on Charles Bridge, I assume it's a repeat of TARA2 (looking for the 'holey' statue
  • Prague Detour: Search Prague square for someone with 'a key to a damsel's heart' - Performed by Dave & Kelly, Matt & Tom OR Carry a person in thing I don't know the name of  - Performed by Alana & Mel, Chris & Anastasia and I'm pretty sure on the promo I saw on Monday night that Nathan & Tyler do this option too.
  • Roadblock - Archery? - Performed by Chris
  • Sheep herding - Sam & Renae and Chris & Anastasia seen attempting this

That's it for now, let me know if I missed something in there

I think someone else posted somewhere that the mine in question was in Krakow.

Assuming that Poland is a separate leg from Netherlands/Czech Rep, then Jeff/Luke, Nathan/Tyler (seen in most recent promo), Sam/Renae (seen in earlier promo), and Chris/Ana (reading clue) make it to leg 7. Given the spotting of Tom/Matt in Ben Gurion, I'd wager that if there's an elim the sisters or the fogeys are biting the dust.

(Though I think that given how chaotic travel into and out of Africa can get, even between major hubs, that we might be due for an NEL again.)

I'm betting on a NEL this one (I actually thought it may have been the last leg  :( ).  I think I recall at the start of the series Grant saying that there would be x number of legs and y of these were non elimination.  We have only had one, and there are 7 teams left.  Given 3 teams make the final and there is usually a NEL with 4 teams left, I think we are overdue.

Dave and Kelly sneak onto the first flight. The back 3 teams are running for it and also make it on at the last minute.

All seven teams on the same flight to Amsterdam.

Nathan and Tyler cut in line at the taxi, Sisters get the first one though.

The temperature went from 30 degrees to 6 degrees in the locations.

Dave and Kelly are taking the train, they think they'll take 20 minutes total, and the taxis will be a 30 minute drive.

Jeff and Luke are also on the train, and want to take it slowly and gather all information before moving.

The train turns out to be faster, Dave and Kelly first to the donuts, Jeff and Luke right behind.

Kelly thinks she's going to be sweet, but the donuts are tasty.

Teams immediately travel on a train to Prague.

ONLY THE FIRST FOUR TEAMS GET SLEEPER CABINS the remaining teams will have to spend the 15 hour journey in seats.

The first four celebrate their sleeper cabins, Alana and Mel comment that it sucks

Train goes through Berlin, that counts as the Germany visit.

Sam and Renae haven't slept, Chris says its the best sleep he's had in a long time, better than any hotel.

Teams are in Prague, models and other models get first two cabs. Alana and Mel can't find a cab.

Tyler want to put 110% in and stay consistent.

Boy models are first to the cluebox and walk straight by it, despite the fact that they have parked less than a meter away (Fran and Barry anyone?) Incredibly, they cross the street and look around another building for it.

Other teams are following them and they are now going upstairs.

Matt: "It's called the sheep effect, one goes so all the others follow"

Ad break.

And we're back. Dave and Kelly "Destroyed all their displays" trying to find the clues. Kelly wants to have a look around outside and Dave says no.

Alana and Mel are out the tower and go straight to the clue.

Teams must now head to the Charles Bridge and find the "holey" statue to find the hidden clue (TAR Asia recall)

Chris and Ana park outside next, straight to the box.

The five inside teams all spot the cluebox finally and run outside to grab it.

Alana and Mel at the bridge, get told by a local it's in the middle even though there's loads of statues.

All teams are showing up and walking on the bridge together. Chris and Ana and Alana and Mel have figured it out, Nathan and Tyler follow them to the clue.

DETOUR: Chivalry or Delivary

Chivalry- Teams must dress in Knights armor and search the old town square to get a key from the keymaster. They must then find the damsel in distress and trade the key for the next clue.

Delivery- Carry a young princess to the old town square.

The three teams all pick delivery.

S/R, J/L & M/T are all overthinking it, going to where a priest is pointing. Jeff claims that in the old testiment holy was spelled holey.

Dave and Kelly ask a guard who outright tells them that teams picked up their clue from the first statue on the left. Dave sticks his head in, sees nothing. Kelly sticks her hand it, feels nothing.

And back. Dave sticks his head in again and climbs in to find it.

Kelly: "See I told ya I had my spelling right"

The bikers pick Chivalry on the basis that "she might be a big fat slobbo, I can't carry that."

Dave and Kelly pass the blondes and refuse to tell them where it is, as they pass Dave comments "This sucks don't it?"

Blondes ask a guard why the holy statue is pointing this way, guard has no clue, looks straight down the barrel of the camera and shrugs.

Alana and Mel realise just how heavy a young girl in a wooden lifty thing is. Anastasia is struggling as well. Tyler and Nathan have very little trouble and breeze past. Chris and Ana have found a rhythym. Nathan's arms are cramping so the surfers change ends

Chris is asking a local, he estimates half an hour while carrying it.

An american tourist tells the remaining three teams exactly which statue to check.

Alana and Mel's princess shoots a worried look to the camera. Alana and Mel are only getting a few steps at a time.

Sam and Renae go the old standby and ask a cop, but he doesn't know the square. Renae is frustrated by the language barrier, and a cabbie tells them he won't take them for free.

Matt and Tom and Dave and Kelly are doing the knits, Kelly is "walking like she just gave birth to something large"

The bikers are now asking everybody if they have the key to a damsels heart, Kelly asks a blind man.

A local doesn't understand Matt and Tom, but to be fair, their accent is very thick.

Tom asks a couple getting married, manages to get in a picture with them.

Jeff and Luke are carrying the girl, Alana and Mel give the princess a hard bump

Alana: "How does everyone else carry it so easily?"
Mel: "Because they're boys"

Jeff and Luke give the models directions, and Sam and Renae proceed to run the other way.

Nathan and Tyler are at the end, finish the Detour in number one but their arms are so dead they can't rip the clue.

ROADBLOCK: Who's aim is true?

Using no more than 40 arrows, teams must hit a target twice- BUT if someone hits a bullseye they get a 50 dollar bonus to use on the race.

Nathan will shoot the arrows.

Alana and Mel discuss the pros and cons of switching detours vs. pushing on. Mel suggests quitting is a viable option.

Ad break.

And back

Alana and Mel still pondering quitting. They decide not to and drag her instead, and it is a lot easier apparently. Jeff and Luke are still working at it, Luke gives his jacket to teh princess so she doesn't get cold. Sam and Renae are struggling.

Renae says all she has to do to get Sam pumped is mention the ex girlfriend.

Chris and Anastasia finish second and had no stress, so they are starting to work together.

Dave and Kelly have found the key & Chris is doing the Roadblock.

Dave and Kelly now cannot find the princess

Matt and Tom ask an old man who doesn't speak English. Tyler and Nathan are at the archery and Nathan looks like he's never shot a bow before. Firs shot is an airball. Nathan hits one before we cut back to Dave. Kelly looks up and spots the princess at the "Hotel Prince"

Dave calls the bow and arrow task and takes it on.

Nathan hits the second target and chooses to stay for the chance at the extra 50 dollars. Takes a few more shots and decides to go.

Heading to the Pit Stop and the last team to arrive "may end up in the dungeon"

Matt and Tom find the keymaster, who is listening to an ipod.

they find the princess easily and Matt does  the Roadblock.

Chris is struggling with the shooting, and Anastasia comments about how she's done archery before. :res:

Chris gets close, then airballs again.

Chris then proceeds to fire a shot backwards, but fortunately does not him himself in the head ala Brooke.

Jeff and Luke are done with the Detour and Chris hits the target the first time.

Tyler and Nathan arrive at the Pit Stop for back to back first places.

The boy models win themselves a $5000 shopping spree from Katmandu (Good thing they didn't win the one on offer in Port Elizabeth)

Chris says its crunchtime, then airballs again.

Ana tells him he can do it and we get a slow motion shot of him aiming before the ad break. (50 bucks from Nab for whoever can pick what's going to happen next.)

And we're back

Google translate is now available on vodafone.

Chris is sticking with the task and slaps a NAB bullseye for 50 bucks.

Chris: "We hit that target, it was not me alone."

Chris and Ana leave while Mat and Tom are arriving. Matt is shooting crossbow and has no hits when Dave arrives.

Dave lands a NAB bullseye and for 50 dollars.

Alana and Mel get directions to the detour end point, and finish it 6th, off to the Roadblock.

Luke arrives to shoot and Matt has run out of arrows. Dave has hit twice and off he goes.

Matt: "Dave, have you got any spare arrows?"
Dave: "Hahaha nup."

Luke smashes a NAB bullseye for 50 dollars and goes. He chooses to give his "thirty something" arrows to Matt before going. Matt hits 2 very quickly after Jeff and Luke depart, so he may have been onto something with his bad arrows theory.

Chris does a 360 spin onto the mat and they check in 2nd.

The models are done with the detour, and finish second.

Alana is very confident going into the Roadblock "For the first time this race I've felt confident stepping up"

Dave and Kelly are getting a tram to the Pit Stop, Father/Son and Farmers elect for a taxi. Dave and Kelly are looking for the mat, the two taxis have arried and beaten the bikers.

Jeff and Luke check in 3rd, Matt and Tom right behind for fourth.

Dave and Kelly dawdle in for fifth place. We are down to two.

Alana is still on zero hits as Sam and renae arrive.

Girls are rattling off shots, and Alana is first to score, she leads 1-0

Alana is starting to run low on arrows.

Mel: If you run out of arrows, that's it, four hour penalty.

And back- Alana misses again, Renae still missing.

Renae has struck for her 2nd hit and Alana has 4 or 5 left.

Alana hits for her second right behind the models. It's looking like it'll be a taxi race to the pit stop.

Sam and Renae are fist to the Pit Stop and get checked in sixth.

Alana and Mel jog up to the mat in last place.

After a very long pause, Grant informs the sisters that they are eliminated.

They go out with their heads held high, Mel thinks it was the right time because her little sister had realised she can take control.

Matt and Tom have stalled and the law stops them again.

Dave struggles with an Ice Hockey task and takes a really hard fall.

Some sort of brewery task involving carrying cases of beer. Dave reckons he's gonna drop em.

Matt hits his head on something wooden.

It's such a shame Alana & Mel went out tonight, this leg appeared to be the leg they worked best as a team  :( Grant's long dramatic pause didn't help either, I thought he might have said it was a NEL  (:;) (And on a sidenote, Grant was a much better pitstop host this time around  :yess:) (sidenote 2: Did anyone else think Alana & Mel should have got a penalty for dragging the princess' carriage along the ground if they didn't arrive last?)

It wasn't the best episode, but it's definitely shaping up to be a good season  :jam:

:jam: (and of course I'd rather not be right in this case  :'()

Loved the Detour and Roadblock. But with 2 all-female teams coming in last.. it's just either the All-female teams really suck or this race is really physical.

Still loving TAR Aussie and Chris and Anastasia surprised me this leg. I thought that Matt and Tom should have been given a penalty though. :'(

I don't like it that the all-male teams are owning the race. It makes the race EXTREMELY BORING. Good locations and such, but if not for the two all-female teams battle at the end, this leg would have been a snooze fest.

Yea. I am fine with one side of the Detour being physical. But being eliminated due to a physical side of the Detour really sucks for an all-female team. I mean, it's the same as choosing a bad Detour and getting eliminated whether you're any type of team but I like Alana and Mel. I was rooting for them over Sam and Ranae. And you can't deny they have got better chances making it further because they're actually quite fast at times. We have seen them first a couple of times, BUT I JUST HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY'RE ALWAYS FALLING BEHIND. :groan:

I believe (and this feeling has almost nothing to back it up) that Alana was a lot more whiny than the edit made her look. A lot of the comments from Mel did seem grossly unfair, but they must have been grounded in something, which in this case is Alana being whiny.

I also think every team that carried was at a big disadvantage in the RB because of the heavy arm strain which would hinder their ability with a bow

I just felt that Matt and Tom should have been given a penalty. Either they provide 50 arrows and if you can't get just 2 targets, you get the penalty, or two, just give them unlimited arrows.

That defeats the purpose of "no more arrows and possibly getting the penalty".

Of course it has nothing to do with Jeff and Luke here being nice. This team is a really honourable team and I really like them alot.

If you ask me, the Final 7 teams are amazing and in fact I thought Alana and Mel were not going to go because they have so much edit. :kuss:

I agree with you guys Tom and Matt should have been given a penalty. But the whole RB was poorly planned  for me. It's not logical to fail the RB if you don't hit the target with the 40 arrows. Maybe a team should be given a 30min penalty-waiting period and then allowed to continue the race.

On another note, although it was not obvious, the teams lost a lot of times in taxi moving back and forth. I was in Prague last summer so I realized that the most part of the episode was around the main square but they were approaching from all different sites. Their first destination was the cluebox in front of the tower, if they want through the arch in 5 min they would have been to the square where was the knight detour and another 5 min from the square is the Charles Bridge. Instead they made a whole circle with the taxi to bypass the square and end up to the bridge and then came back to the square.
As for the end the reason that Dave and kelly lost two places is because they went by foot to the castle, which is on the opposite side of Charles bridge but on a high hill, which takes some time to reach it. So they approached the Castle by the back side while the taxis took the others on the front side where the main gate is.
The shots we saw from David and Kelly was from inside the castle while Grant was waiting just outside.

Kiki, you must remember that Dave and Kelly elected to take public transportation to Prague Castle to save money for use later in the race. They made a conscious decision to avoid the more expensive taxis. If they could navigate the tram system, then I assume they would navigate to Prague Castle in the most direct way. If that meant going to the back side of the castle, then so be it.

^^ Apskip, I know they took the tram for some of the way, but as far as  I know the tram doesn't take you to the top of the hill. It goes as far as the foot of the hill and the road up is quite long and steep. Also Dave and kelly, entering the castle from the back they found themselves in the inner courtyards (there are at least two) and they could have lost a lot of time looking for Grant inside the castle grounds, as you can't see the main entrance from the inside.

I thought from Matt and Tom's conversation that the rules indicated that they could use more arrows only if another team gave the arrows to them.  So, they couldn't take them on their own, but if they waited, and could talk someone into sharing, they could keep shooting.  I think that's an interesting twist to a group competition.

I also thought it was interesting. Do you just quit and take a four hour penalty and hope that other teams are far enough behind or do you wait for more teams to arrive and hope that they give arrows? Had Luke not given him the arrows, I have no doubt that Matt & Tom would have been eliminated. We'll just have to wait to see if it was a poor choice.

According to Google maps the carry task from St Agnes Convent to Old Town Square is a distance of 650m.  Most of us could walk this comfortably in 5-10mins.  Carrying something though would be entirely different matter, it looked very heavy and awkward to lift.

From there to the pit stop - Prage Castle is about 2.5km.  I can only assume the archery task was somewhere in between.

I don't think that the archery task was somewhere close to the detour location and the pit stop. The detour was in the main square and the pit stop at the castle and both they are in the old part of the town with many buildings and not enough open space. The archery task was in an open space somewhere not to close to the city center but I think on the same side of the river as the castle.

very ncie catch, tarflyonthewall. I agree with you. The name Strelecky Ostrov "translates (roughly) as Archer's Island." How appropriate!
