Another possible sighting in Phuket, Thailand (hotel is in Phuket)

"Thailand is such a beautiful country and I loved my experience here. Will be back for sure. Only thing that deterred us was the main swimming pool and top floor of the hotel was closed so an American television series could film here. Definitely recommend this hotel!!!

I know we've moved on to Africa, but two work colleagues were in the same plane to Bangkok on the 24th with the surfer guys. They took GA 868, departed Jakarta at 12.50, arrived in Bangkok 4.50ish. They were the only team in the flight, with cameraman & sound guy. Ran out of the plane after the door was opened. & to think that I was supposed to be on that flight with them!

Welcome malawiafrica! Can you ask your husband if he knows for sure which plane he saw the teams get off? There was a South African plane and a Kenya Airways plane both at about the same time at Lilongwe airport.

We have them!!

Thanks to an AWESOME new friend, we have independent confirmation that teams arrived Lilongwe airport yesterday June 30th.

They went to Limbe Leaf to do something with tobacco...Limbe Leaf is a large tobacco firm in Lilongwe.

The poster is listed as being from Durban, but said Tuesday he was on the Zambezi headed for Livingston.

From reading his Twitter timeline he may have also been on that flight from South Africa. Could be further confirmation that teams were coming from Johannesburg.

This person is listed as being from Ankara Turkey. I would guess the sighting was in Cyprus. The team wearing yellow at LAX does have an Asian woman so I think this is very credible info.

However, I should point out that these are the first two tweets this person has sent since August 2009 so maybe we (I?) shouldn't get too carried away just yet. I'm also wondering if the teams could have gotten from Malawi to Cyprus this fast.

I found a blog post by someone who flew with some of the teams from Johannesburg to Malawi.

The amazing race to Malawi?
The Amazing Race
When I arrived at my terminal to leave Johannesburg, there were approximately 5 guys with massive cameras, and perhaps the same number with large fuzzy mikes. I was curious, but didn't say anything. On the plane, before I switched seats, I was talking to the girls I was sitting next to. They were headed to help their mom with a literacy project, getting oral stories written down in Chichewa. We were saying how curious we were about the cameras, so I asked the guys what the were filming. They said that they were filming "a travel show. It's going to be on tv eventually, but I don't know what channel." That was enough to satisfy my curiosity. But there was a group of teenagers on a mission trip, and somehow they came to the conclusion that it was the amazing race. After I switched seats (there was a lot of seat switching going on), I was sitting next to a girl named Lisa from Holland, and a guy named Andy from Lake Tahoe. We all ended up talking and sharing food from our meals (which were delicious) with each other. It turns out this Andy guy was grouped with the camera people, and as soon as the plane landed, he was off as quickly as possible. My cousin Ryan asked someone later, and it was the amazing race. I wonder what they'll be doing in Malawi...this is my second time bumping into them (first was in Seattle two years ago). Maybe I should start watching that show!
