I can say that if they visited in Helsinki they surely didn't fly out of Helsinki-Malmi airport  :lol3: Malmi airport is only for small private airplanes, and it's so small that it can't be used for emergency landings for example. There is no commercial passanger traffic to Malmi airport  :js:
I doubt the Helsinki visit. It's very hot weekend here right now which means lots of people are outside and there surely would be more sightings of the race around internet. And because Amazing Race is well-known show here there would be news about visit everywhere like there was last time. But I keep my eye out on Finnish websites and media.

I can't believe they are finally having a finale in Atlanta. I guess we put a lot more stock in visiting some ten year spots than WRP did. Makes you wonder if they even bothered with Victoria Falls.

I hope peach is on scene.

Peach, this could be the sort of year where Atlanta as a final destination city might actually be in play.

They've done Miami twice now, New York twice, and as far as international flights go from Europe, Atlanta, Boston, and D.C., and maybe Philly are about all that are left. They've used Boston as a start city. So, I suspect the ATL has at least a 1 in 3 chance this year, and teams can use the Metro out of the airport and avoid taxis completely or for parts of it. They haven't forced teams to use public transit on the finale since Chicago in TAR 6 and I think that is overdue. :)

What did I say yesterday? Huh? Huh? :yess:

I'm not going to post possible finish line locations (although I think there are a few around Atlanta that are definitely in play, depending on what theme Bert and Company want to pursue for the final leg.)
And this summer, for some reason, there is a lot of road construction going on with all the interstates in the metro area.

Should it turn out to be true, that Teams arrived today on Flight DL 37  from CDG then these may be the cities of the last pit stop:

Paris of course
Milan:   AZ 300 LIN arrives at CDG at 8:30 am
Nantes:   AF 7721 NTE arrives CDG at 8:25 am
Frankfurt:  LH 1026 FRA arrives CDG at 8:25 am
Marseille:  RO 9550 MRS arrives CDG at 8:25 am (guess where that Pit Stop would be )
Rennes:  DB 5720 RNS arrives CDG at 8:20 am
Bordeaux:  AF 7621 BOD arrives CDG at 8:15 am
Nice:  AF 7713 NCE arrives CDG at 8:00 am
Madrid:  VY 8202 MAD arrives CDG at 7:55 am
Brussels:  SN 3631 BRU arrives CDG at 7:30 am

There could be more but the chance of an alternate connection being faster starts to eliminate those routes.

I have found that WRP likes to use parks, stadiums, and homes most of the time for the finish line. Turner Field should be empty today as the Braves we're just owned here in Philly. If I recall correctly from the year I lived there, it has some history to it.

Take a look at what Teams encountered today leaving ATL:

And has gotten better since the first time I looked at it!  Also, keep in mind that the airport is south of town.  So it is likely that they have to go through that freeway mess north of ATL

Current weather conditions in Atlanta: 93F with a dew point of 73F for a heat index of 103F. Any outdoor tasks are going to be decidedly unpleasant, especially on top of killer fatigue.

Prophet I've sent my ideas to Peach, in case she's checking her PMs this afternoon.

I'm not going to comment on that list I sent to Peach.

As to Turner Field, it is the permanent infrastructure of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Stadium; if you look at a current map of downtown Atlanta, the Olympic Torch structure is about two blocks north, along with pylons commemorating the 1996 Games, and of course, Centennial Olympic Park is a couple of miles to the northwest of Turner Field.

As to the road construction....it is worse than normal, several interstates are adding high occupancy toll lanes, and there's been a major reconstruction of a interchange with Georgia 316 that has taken two years already.. (I do read the Atlanta Journal Constitution online all the time.)

Uhm....has anyone actually seen the teams yet in ATL or is this all just based on two tweets, one of which said, shortly after posting that she saw TAR crew at ATL, that the race will actually be filming tomorrow? (tweeted just 20 minutes ago)

they can also use the georgia dome.

Since it got mentioned, Swan House was on my list of suggestiions of possible locations to Peach this afternoon.  Been there as guest for a wedding, and some other event years ago.  Not only secluded, but hard to get to, and even the cab srivers would have trouble with it.

Some of the other places I have in mind are also potential secluded or closed for filming.  But we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm off to bed.

About 1-2 years ago (during TAR15 season), I hosted a fantasy TAR game that ended in ATL. I asked Peach about a possible Finish Line in her dear place. She strongly suggested the Swan House, because it is secluded AND very hard to get into.

So I am very confident that know Peach knows her place very well. She knows where to go. I hope she saw the teams! :hearts:

Yes!! To my utmost joy and delight, TAR 19 completed the race in my own hometown!!

FINALE CITY: ATLANTA, GEORGIA

FINALE DATE: JULY 10, 2011

PITSTOP: THE SWAN HOUSE

We SO wanted to tell you all, but as you all know, RFF chooses to never reveal the start or finale locations in advance...to protect the race from unintentional interference.

And yes, The Swan House has always been my own TOP pick for a Pitstop in Atlanta...way back when I first suggested it to Cocoa for his game. A PERFECT choice.
