We see Gary at a scene saying " I think he is going to make it", laughing as he is saying it. He is obviously referring to the dummy they have to find underneath the snow.

It looks like they are rescuing a dummy from the crevasse.

I have looked for a screencap of this little scene. I guess no one has captured it. It is hard to tell if the dummy was coming out of the snow or out of the crevasse, to me.

The avalanche field seach/rescue, reminds me of TAR11 in Argentina. Just after Rob/Amber were eliminated, teams had to go up a ski lift and search a glacier/snowfield for a buried clue, using the same technique they are using in this episode. I think in TAR11, it was just the route marker to fly to Africa though becuase all teams had to do the same thing and both teammates did it together.

Dr. Rox,
Your memory is good. At the beginning of AR11, episode 5 the remaining 7 teams took a bag of tools including an avalanche beacon detector and pickax up the Martial Glacier lift to a point from which they were to find the clues buried under the ice with a beacon set to the same unique frequency.

I guess it could be the snow. :duno:

Based on the new screencaps, I think Gary and Mallory did the search, like Zev and Justin did.  Gary was holding a tool that was exactly like the one that Zev and Justin had.  Gary went in the hole they dug and pulled out the dummy!  That was Kent and Jen in the crevasse.

Caps 14, 15 & 16 are Gary & Mallory digging.  Cap 28, Gary in the hole, pulling up the dummy.

i think last week's page had so much more input bc there was so much more speculation involved,  especially with the w turn.

Can't remember if we had this buried in spoilers or not... but we picked this up back in December.

The team in charge of the glacier tasks seems to be SNOW FEVER.

Their film page includes: (sic)

Quote
CBC: The Amazing Race. Local protuction
           whit over 50 pax

And this:
Quote
Film productions and/or photographs in unusual places like glaciers, rock walls, ski slopes and in alpin terain, need special prerequisites and knowledge.

The helicopter seen here: (promo 3 caps) HB-XSU

is registered to Air Zermatt ag...known for their mountain rescues...

Quote
Zermatt possesses its own well-equipped heliport and its own helicopter company AIR ZERMATT Ltd., which is famous far beyond the borders of Switzerland for its pioneering work in alpine air-rescue. The heliport is situated at the entrance to Zermatt, where 4 helicopters are based. Another 4 helicopters are based further down the Rhone valley between Visp and Raron and at the Sion airport. These highly-equipped helicopters are on stand-by day and night throughout the year ready to fly injured skiers or mountaineers to a doctor or a hospital. A helicopter is also the quickest and gentlest way of transporting acute cases. An experienced doctor accompanies our crew. This means that a sick or injured person can be flown to a doctor in the village within minutes, or to one of the well-equipped Valais hospitals in 12 to 15 minutes. In cases where weather conditions prevent the helicopter from flying, our ambulance service takes over.

caper has their heliport location in Zermatt here:

That's what I thought too!  I thought, if they are still racing the leg, why would they take time out do a PI and be so casual & relaxed about it?  I suppose they could have done the roadblock and then raced back to the helipad for the PS?

Also, if they are suppose to bring their gnomes to the PS, wouldn't they be a gooey mess?  Does chocolate dry/freeze that fast?

That cap is not the pitstop. Why would they go do the roadblock, come back to the detour staging area, put their safety gear back on and then check in?
I think they have time to do a confessional there because they are waiting on the helicopter to take them up or down the mountain. It seems like they have not done the detour yet but I can't tell for sure.

Wow prophet, I was speculating... Although a few of you know what the heck really happens, you forget that us lowly people are completely oblivious and have to guess and speculate and hope for a tidbit to be thrown here and there.  The first sentence of your response was not necessary, which was basically saying "Are you STOOPID?"   :ascared

The second sentence would have been enough.

I really don't think Prophet meant it that way... it didn't sound like he was dissing you.

I don't know what's going on as well and I have to agree. Screen cap 4 does look like pitstop. :)

In cap 4, I think, it's the moment when Mallory says "We sure have a lot of safety gear on". To me that sounds like they haven't been to the detour yet and they don't know what to expect exactly.
Also have we thought the possibility that they are not enough helicopters for all the teams?
So the first 2 teams would go at the site and the next would have to wait for the helicopters to return.
I don't know what it would be more financial wise for the production, to hire 5 helicopters or just 2-3 to go back and forth.

Good point kiki about the helicopters...

The Detour on the mountain is first.

The Roadblock in Zermatt is the last task before having to find the Pitstop.

ALL teams are bunched at the RB, make and paint a chocolate gnome using the techniques DrRox outlined here:
http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,25195.msg607860.html#msg607860

Promos 2 and 2A both emphasize " IT IS A RACE TO THE FINISH"!
