:didimiss:  Why is everybody certain Gary is getting gas instead of just passing by the Agip station on Landstrasse? I've run through the video a few times and I still don't see it.  ???
I think you're right about it not being the pitstop.  In the promo, they don't seem to be slowing down while going by the station/stone wall area.
---

Something I've been wondering about is this cap:

Why the second red and white location circle?  Might that be the speed bump location?  In searching for bikeshops, there are four listed for bike rental in Liechtenstein.  The two I mentioned earlier and another one in Triesen.  All three are down south after Vaduz.  However, the last one is in Mauren which is west of Schaanwald close to the starting location.

This is the one in Mauren:  http://fahrradshop.li/%C3%9Cberuns/Lageplan/tabid/77/Default.aspx

A is the location of the Mauren Bike Rental Shop (Martin's Fahrradshop AG) and B is the Agrola Gas Station (the northernmost gas station in Liechtenstein).  Could work?   It would give a reason for that second location on the map.

Hi, I've been a lurker here for a while, and I just wanted to point out that there's a new episode preview on the CBS site:
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race/video/?pid=cca52xfQZMdJjhT6oT9PqFm68vWdOgYg&vs=homepage&play=true

It seems like everyone messes up at the roadblock. haha
and Justin does the road block, too.
Welcome!! And thank you.  I think I recognized half those locations.  :)

I believe the term is "drafting." It means, in Tour de France terms, to get behind another rider and let the rider in front take the wind. It takes less effort for the following rider to keep the same speed. In Gary's case, it might mean that he uses less gas.

Wasn't Gary a triathlete? If so, he's probably got a lot of experience with cycling drafting if he does training rides with a bike club and might actually be able to apple what he's learned to the mopeds.

Let's see if my arithmetic is correct:
1.64  swiss francs per liter (cheapest gas)
 X3.78 liters per gallon
X1.01 dollars per swiss franc (07 Dec exchange rate)
 =6.26 USD per gallon equivalent
Is that right? I'm not going to stop griping about the $4.20 I just paid  :'(, but it puts things into perspective.

From the promo, it seems like almost all of the teams had problems

1) Jen (?) - Dropped her map
2) Vyxin - Lost
3) Gary - Unsure of his readings
4) Justin (?) - Lost
5) Jet - Made the wrong turn at the last town -

The only teams that are unseen is FT/BE. It's either they are first or last. If they are first to finish the roadblock it makes sense if the cowboys are u-turned.

Gary's probably not that wrong in his measurements.  He said 10.5km and we obviously don't know the exact location of the start point and there do seem to be certain markers they've to hit, but he doesn't seem too wrong.

The photo of Jet above is a little bit south of the Agip gas station and right near the earlier linked photo..  (Overhead shot that has the COOP gas station to the left.)

Are gas prices that high now?  Being on sick leave I've no idea what prices are right now!  They were $3.60 last time I got gas.  I wonder what the gas mileage is for those things.. and how big the tank is?

I wish we had gotten a little bit of Zermatt.  Maybe tomorrow.  Goodnight, folks!

I think I said ONE TEAM. No team was specified.

Maybe I need to go out of the clue business:wall:

Is this a clue that only one team gets U-turned too?  :flirt:

Current standings in the sneak preview)! (Assuming clips are in general chronological order)

Ahead: Jennifer & Justin
Middle: Vyxsin
Behind: Jet & Gary

No idea about Herbert/Nathaniel. Most likely ahead, if the Speed Bump has already been completed!

Map coming soon.

That jibes with the order they finished last week, except Vyxsin (but Vyxsin + map = automatic drop in the standings)

Map of Liechtenstein.

From north to south:
Jet and Gary at Vaduz. (0:25)
Jennifer just north of Triesen. (0:05)
Vyxsin just north of Balzers. (0:18)
Jennifer and Justin at Balzers. (0:53)

Vyxsin is on the right path, but this is where the main road veers off to Switzerland and a smaller one goes on straight to Balzers.

So we were right about them looking for the end of the RB there.

Here is a nice video showing aerials of the castle.

SIGH.

In the "if we had only known category", here are some great webcams. You can search back to Dec 7.

And the glacier tours will be great for next week!! :yess:

Just like being there!!

i think a few pages back, we speculated that FT was going "backwards". so maybe he made a mistake and is behind everyone?
