And racers can be told to book flights however production wants...if that means a travel agent, so be it...doesn't always mean NO one can book elsewhere.

You are totally right but I couldn't make a list...but I know someone will have the answer!!

India is the only place I know.

I am not certain, but as best I can tell Russia uses a focused system of flight bookings from Russia. You can make bookings on the internet or with a travel agency for a round-trip to and from Russia. However, if it is a one way flight out of Russia then I believe that can only be booked at a travel agency in Russia. This was certainly the case for AR5 when teams flew from St. Petersburg. I think it was also the case in AR9 from Moscow and AR13 from Moscow and AR17 from St. Petersburg.

IIRC, Vietnam also requires that a flight ticket be purchased at a travel agency before arriving at the airport, and it may be the rule in China as well. India definitely has required ticket purchase at travel agencies (Remembering Chip going through more combinations and finding a better flight out of India even as the other teams had already flown out in TAR 4).

In your eyes what are the characteristics of the supposed 'winners edit'?

IMO, one of the most focused-on teams in the editing is the winner. Also, a team who is either generally liked or has a substantial fan base because the editors have made that team more interesting than the others.
That's my two cents.

I don't think there is a way to tell, my example being seasons 5-7. Chip & Kim were lovable and Colin & Christie were not; both teams probably had the most screentime that season. Freddy & Kendra said racist things, yelled at teams, and complained about everything whereas Kris & Jon almost never got angry and enjoyed every location. Uchenna & Joyce were rather out of focus until one of the late legs, but Rob & Amber were in that season. The edits are done in the way that makes the most drama and entertainment.

Totally unpredictable with the exception of season 17, which was as subtle as a brick to the face: "Never been a f/f winning team!", "We want to be the first female team!", "16 seasons is too long!" etc.

Dustin & Kandace got very similar edits in TAR10 & 11

I think those two were some of the seasons I skipped. I guess that goes to show how much the edits vary.

I'm going through every season right now, so it will still probably be a while.

A question of my own: What locations have been visited more than once (e.g. the farm in Sweden from seasons 6 and 15)?

Gas Works Park in Seattle was the finish line for Season 3 and the starting line for Season 10.

The finales of both TAR 7 and TAR 18 visited the Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami.

Red Rocks Amphitheater was both the Starting Line and the Finish Line of TAR 9.

I have a few subtle ones to add:

Shanghai YuYuan Gardens AR6 and AR16
Ski Dubai AR5 and AR15

I also have unearthed by research a long list of cities where there were duplicate visits, but other than the ones cited above none of them qualifies as a duplicate sub-location.

I was wondering, if tasks are created with the type of racers in mind?

Like for example (I'm not being racist/religionist or anything), if Bilal & Sa'eed were in Season 14 and made it to the Final 3, they would have been required to handle pigs, which are considered to be filthy (& taboo (I'm not sure if that is the right word)) in the religion of Islam and they certainly would have an issue with that task.

I believe, that the race route (and perhaps tasks) may have been planned months in advance (even during the casting process, I suppose). So basically, how does this work?

I mean no offense to anybody out there.  :(

It would have been extremely difficult for them to participate in the race with their religious beliefs. That's why some people think they weren't meant to go the whole way.  :duno:

Mo and Mos seemed to manage ok in AusTAR. According to the live chat they did on the yahoo7 website, being a muslim didn't interfere with their racing at all. They said they "mostly prayed in hotels"

I think task designers see to it that all tasks should not be unfair for other racers who are differently-abled. Both of Charla and Luke's seasons doesn't have tasks that really really really require the senses.

To clarify one thing, the pig task in TAR14 was a detour.

If Mel & Mike had made it to the end, it is likely that they would have done the other detour because Mike White is a vegan.

Mo & Mos were in a casino, mentioned not being very good Muslims and yucked it up. Avi (of season 6) has mentioned that he would have done eating challenges claiming that he'd "eat pork on Yom Kippur." It all comes down to how devout you are in your beliefs, although in my opinion, if you have anything severely debilitating, you have no business being on the race *cough* Mika *cough*.

As long as you are not risking your own money/possestions it's okay. There was no money or gambling involved in the task.

A question of my own: What locations have been visited more than once (e.g. the farm in Sweden from seasons 6 and 15)?

Frankfurt Airport? It's been visited in more than 15 US seasons, I think!

Race-wise, the most has definitely got to be the Star Ferry (or Pier) in Hong Kong. Every season that has passed through Hong Kong (except TAR: Australia which broke the streak) has been on it...

I think task designers see to it that all tasks should not be unfair for other racers who are differently-abled. Both of Charla and Luke's seasons doesn't have tasks that really really really require the senses.

I remember Luke having to sit out the Bavaria paragliding Roadblock because "the participating team member must be able to hear verbal instructions", so they do try to make provisions and adjustments to the race (in instruction wording at least) after the casting.

Why didn't TAR go to Denmark and Belgium?

Why didn't TAR go to Denmark and Belgium?

Since they are overdue for an Amazing Race visit, AR19 may be the ticket. There are ample legs left and this season has not reached Europe yet.
