Oh for goodness sake. Call Phil and ask?

This is a LIVE race! We are very lucky to know where they are today, much less tomorrow!

Actually, I have his current cell phone number. Seriously. Its valid till tomorrow.  Then they to leave the country they're currently in.

I hope Phil has lots of warm clothes...it's kinda cold...

This FB post was made about 12:45 vienna time.

Look out for the Amazing Race in Vienna. We just happened to be filmed by a crew tagging along with a team. Watch for two guys asking for directions from a Postal Worker. We are walking towards them.

From FB.

IB 3576 landed in Vienna at 12:05 from Madrid. It departed from Madrid at 9am giving J/C plenty of time to get on it. I think that all teams may not have gone thru Madrid.

Physics alone is not enough.

It looks like that there are a lot of "christmas markets" in Vienna this time of year. There is some info on that
here: http://www.aboutvienna.org/veranstaltungen/veranstaltungen5.htm and here: http://www.visitingvienna.com/sights/christmasmarkets/rathausplatz/. That one looks like a good place for a task, the race likes those market like atmospheres.

This concerns and excites me at the same time. They haven't gone to a new country yet (well it depends on if they went somewhere in between the finds of India, Spain, and Austria). I hope they have a stretch of new countries at the end.

Thanks to unnamed friends and Neobie, Slowhatch, and walkingpneumonia who helped puzzle this out!

We can now say with some certainty:

India was leg 7.
Austria was leg 8.
Switzerland was leg 9.

In Austria, there may have been a food challenge on the famous Wiener Riesenrad (German for "Viennese giant wheel") Ferris wheel at the entrance of the Prater amusement park in Leopoldstadt, the 2nd district of Austria's capital Vienna.

There may have also been a task involving carrying "Freud's couch" to The University of Vienna.

Or 6, 7, and 8 if the Australia legs are presented as one episode -- hence the discrepancy with the timeline! We'll have this all figured out in a week or so, I imagine!

I think it's dangerous to assume that the Australian TBC leg is going to be one episode.  Historically the TBC legs have been two episodes.  I think it confuses the situation to try and think of things in terms of episodes at this point. Who's to say that some other pair of legs might be aired as a two-hour episode, which had happened in the past?
If we can keep to it legs for right now it would avoid confusing things, as it is we know there's at least two legs between China and India that haven't been accounted for, and that's a sufficient source for confusion for now.

Mjriches I think dr rox wrote it the way he did because we aren't sure if the Sydney and broken hill 'legs' will be counted separately making them 1 and 2 or if both parts will be as an double leg with the tbc in the middle

I'm counting the TBC as two 'legs' because that's how production views it: there are twelve legs in recent races. In other words, there are two legs in India.

Leg 1: Sydney
Leg 2: Broken Hill (TBC from Leg 1)
Leg 3: Tokyo/Yokohama
Leg 4: Lijiang
Leg 5: Kunming
Leg 6: Kolkata
Leg 7: India II, likely Goa/Thiruvanathapuram/Varanasi
Leg 8: Vienna
Leg 9: Switzerland

You mean South America or South Africa? I guess either continent would be possible. Have they ever finished with SoAmerica near the end of a race? My recollection is always visited at the beginning of the race.

discussing locations here is fine! Spec seems rather overrun at the moment.  :cmaslol
