I usually use JustTVNuts. Though the link isn't working now, I'm sure it will come up nearer the date. The site has been having problems but hopefully it will clear up!

PREVIOUSLY ON .. THE AMAZING RACE:

Phil: Six teams flew to Seychelles. At the Detour, Brent/Caite (quit!), the Cowboys, and Carol/Brandi came up short on coconuts.  Steve/Allie picked a speedy tortoise but forgot their backpacks; they chose to surge ahead without.  They inched out Dan/Jordan for the win.  Jet/Cord were turned away after not completing a task. In the end, they were spared elimination; this leg, they have to complete a speed bump.

Six teams remain. Who will be eliminated next?

Yup, it's started... The detectives, Steve and Allie, and Brent and Caite are plotting to U-turn Carol and Brandy... I'm completely surprised that the u-turn may appear.

Phil: These are the Seychelles, a remote island chain off the coast of Africa. It is the only country on earth where due to unique animal and plant life, half its land is protected as its national park. The seventh pitstop in a Race around the world. Steve/Allie won a "positively uplifting reward" from 7 Up.

CLUE, 7:20 pm, Steve/Allie.  Fly to Malaysia.
Phil: They'll board the 2 am ocean charter to the Seychelles Airport.
Allie conf: All we have for the rest of the Race is the clothes on our back.
Steve to local: Can I buy your shirt off you?

Dan/Jordan (missed departure time, sorry)
Conf that they have 6 hours (which puts them before 8 pm)

9:15, 9:16 pm, Brent/Caite, Cops.
10:19 pm Carol/Brandy

Cops say they like working with "kids" Brent/Caite.
Brent calls them "Daddies."
They put their heads together and agree they H A T E Carol.
Cop: We see Carol/Brandi as a threat in this Race.
The cops convince Brent/Caite to U-Turn them at first chance.

Jet/Cord 10:22 pm.

Cops toss Steve some underwear and a hat.

ALL ABOARD!  Boat to Mahe Island, 2:00 am.  All teams aboard.  Off to Malaysia.

EQUALIZED at the AIRPORT.  Hardly surprising.

Brent/Caite get out of the airport first headed for Snake temple in a cab. Steve/Allie 2nd, Cops 3rd, Lessies 4th, Dan/Jordan 5th, which leaves Jet/Cord last.

Lots of cab passing on the streets of Malaysia.  Don't they earn a caning for unsafe driving?

Dan/Jordan, CLUE. DETOUR.
Buddhist tradition, or Chinese cousin?
Phil: Teams must immerse themselves in 1 of 2 cultural rituals.
Buddhist ... Make their way to a temple. Choose 12 incense sticks, lug them up a steep 150 steps, and place them into a giant burner, lighting them.
Chinese ... Esplanade, choose a pair of enormous flagpoles used to celebrate Chinese New Year. Balance flags on forehead 120 feet across the park lawn.

4th, Lesbians ... move up to 2nd because Brent/Caite lost their taxi.
Jet/Cord in last.
Brent's and Cowboys' taxis have disappeared. They go looking for new ones.
Brent gets one.  Jet/Cord now the only team waiting for one.  They lament their unfortunate state, wandering a street looking for a cab.

On the road, Cops cab passes Carol/Brandy.  They try to pass the brothers' cab and finally succeed.

Jet/Cord still looking for a cab, finally getting one.

Brandy/Carol pass the Cops.

It's a CAB RACE!

Bell ringer ... 1st Brandy/Carol pick up H U G E incense sticks.
They'll have to make more than 1 trip.
Brent/Caite also decide to do incense sticks.
Two at a time, 150-odd steps.  Winded ... huffing, puffing.
Brent/Caite also decide on 2 at a time.

Meanwhile, Cops get stuck in traffic somehow.

Steve/Allie also stuck in traffic, decide to hoof it.  They exit the cab.
Cops see Steve/Allie running and also consider running.
Cop: One bad cab driver can cost you a million dollars.
Early much, yokum?

Back to the DETOUR. Jet/Cord arrive "My Gravy!" at the flagpole challenge.
One of 'em finds it pretty easy. The other has nothing but trouble.

One cowboy done; one cowboy on his 4th try finishes.
1st, Jet/Cord, CLUE: Make your way to the village of Teluk Bahang.
Phil: Find this temple where the next clue awaits.

Lesbians carry 2 more huge-ass incense sticks.
They now have about 8 in.

Just arriving, the Cops think they can successfully grab 6 at a time.

Jet/Cord reach the Temple.
SPEED BUMP.
Phil: Make their way to a tropical spice garden. Find the lady preparing spiced tea.  Using sense of smell, deliver the correct spiced tea (from a selection of various spiced teas) to a guru.

Carol/Brandy take a rest.
Brent/Caite consider bringing 3 at a time to finish before them.
Cops grab 6, causing THE SMOKING MAN (tip of the cap to X-Files) to gag and hack uncontrollably.

At the Speed Bump, neither Jet nor Cord claim a good sense of smell.
The lady gives them a spice to sniff. THey have to determine which of THE THREE teas has that same smell.  (Only 3?)
They have to take the right one over to a not-so-nearby guru.  They choose one.  He ain't far, though; he's on a swing in the same park.
Guru: NOT IT.
Cowboys go back  to the lady.
Second try they get it right.  (There were only 3.)
Cowboys still in 1st, I think.

Steve/Allie and Dan/Jordan walking and semi-running up a hill (apparently, trying to get to where Jet/Cord already were ... the Temple).

Oops!  Steve/Allie and Dan/Jordan WRONG LOCATION!  Now they're fighting over the 1 and only cab which remains!
Steve conf: He remained loyal to us.
Dan/Jordan stuck, on foot, wrong Temple.

COMMERCIAL.

Dan/Jordan profess not to give up.
Steve's cab driver still doesn't seem to know where he's going though, so Dan/Jordan's new cab may be better ... We'll see.
Steve gets out to ask directions.  The local points like, halfway across the continent.
Steve ... oh crap ... trying to get to the "flag balancing deal"?

Jet/Cord, ROADBLOCK.
Phil: Competition getting fierce. Teams will need more than perseverance. Two Hindu ritauals for good luck.
First, smash coconuts to find the one with bright color inside.  Build a minature offering known as a float, and the guru will set it off to sea.

Cops finish incense task in 4th. They wonder aloud where Steve/Allie could be.
Steve's cab lets them off at the park.
Allie: OMIGOD I CANNAE DO THAT FLAG TASK THINGY!
Steve urges her to try. She's like, HELL TO THE NOE.
Steve/Allie turn around and run, looking for another taxi.

Cowboy finds the red-insided coconut and starts building his "boat."
Steve/Allie can't find a cab.  Okay, they finally find one.  The crawler says they're in L A S T.
Brent/Caite panic as if their driver is taking them to the wrong place.  He took them to a pitched tent.

Meanwhile, Cowboy finishes his decorative offering and lights it.  He tries to cast it to sea.  Success!  Pitstop CLUE.

Phil: Historic section of the island, Pinang Peranakan Mansion.  Last team to check in may be eliminated.

Brent/Caite ask directions, AGAIN. Dumbass driver for them, too.

Dan/Jordan carry incense sticks up the stairs.

Arriving there in last, Allie starts pissing-off Dad. "WILL YOU LOOK AT ME FOR A SECOND!?"
He's trying to lift the heavy-ass incense sticks.
I'd be like SHADDAP AND LIFT SOMETHING!

Damnable Cop ... 2nd coconut was red inside.
Lesbians still there.

Brent/Caite arrive there to find the Lesbos beat them to the Roadblock.

Jet and Cord in first! :)

They're one incredibly strong team when everything is neutral. They've only had one legitimately bad leg and during it they had 2 strokes of bad luck that made it so they were last after the map got forgotten.

Without knowing times and all because of editing, I have a feeling that if they didn't have good luck or bad luck, just neutrality, even with forgetting the map in the bottle, they may have been mid pack that last leg.

Dan/Jordan carry their last one and light their fire.
Allie: COME ON, DAD! GO!
Umm ... heffa, you're the one who said hell to the no back at the other Detour.

Lesbians finish building their offering and get clue in 2nd. Off to the pitstop.
Caite is still breaking coconuts.
Louie pushes his offering out to sea, in 3rd.
Brent is pissed.

Dan/Jordan finish lighting all the incense, leaving in 5th for the RB.
Carrying, Steve: Just tell me if you want to take a break, Allie.
Dan/Jordan: This is by far the toughest leg.

Finally, Caite builds an offering. She pushes it out to sea, in 4th.
Mystery music punctuates the occasion.

Allie lights incense. They leave and head toward the RB / Temple.
Dan/Jordan's cabbie is OUT OF GAS!
Well, not quite; he's just stopping for gas at the gas station.

Yeah, if they'd had better luck and remembered the map they'd have been fourth, most likely.  And Carol & Brandy would've had the Speedbump.

In other news, it looks like Steve & Allie will be Philiminated.  Darn!

Actually the "Beatles" leg was brutal for that team.  They lucked out on the fact that the flight that should have arrived first was seriously delayed.  They either performed the worse or 2nd worse (with Jeff & Jordan doing worse, I can't remember off the top of my head).

And the 2nd French leg, Boy they fed that leg up two, what saved them on this leg was the fact that there was no equalizer so they managed to keep a lead of hours over Brent & Caite & Jeff & JOrdan, we wont ever know how long it took Jeff & Jordan but the only team that took longer to complete the leg was Dan & Jordan who wasted hours on their detour choice.

Steve/Allie are stuck in traffic in their cab.  Steve starts bitching.

Phil: Louie/Michael, you're team #3.

Arriving, Dan/Jordan see the cluebox.   Guess who needs "a splash of color"?
Fourth coconut, success.
Steve/Allie arrive as he makes his offering.
Guru: SORRY, NO.

Second time's the charm. Dan/Jordan are back in the cab as Steve/Allie are at the cluebox.
Steve still thinks somehow they can survive.
Allie's doing it.
She's smashing madly away, but if it takes more than a couple, she's toast.

Man: Welcome to Penang, Malaysia.
Phil: Brent/Caite, you're Team #4.
Caite: We'll take it.

Allie finds a greenish one. She builds her offering. She takes it to the Guru. CLUE. They're off to the pitstop.

Dan/Jordan have the lead, but it's a traffic jam.
Steve says "we're almost there. This is it!"

Phil: Dan/Jordan, you're Team #5.

Phil: Steve/Allie, you are the last team to arrive.  Sorry to tell you, you have been eliminated.
Allie giggles uncomfortably.
Allie: I'mma cry.  It's been fun.
A conf: Special, the time of my life with you, Dad.  Something that'll last forever.
Steve: She worked so hard. She showed me alot.  You're tough, man.
S conf: I remember her as my 5 year old girl.  I got a World Series ring, but this?  Jumped ahead.

Have we ever had a complete reversal of positions like we did this leg?
6-5-4-3-2-1  became  1-2-3-4-5-6.

Hehehe.... Brent and Caite have their revenge on Carol and Brandy by doing something (U-turn?).

Also, Dan and Jordan have to battle through their fear of heights... on a thing that looks like a Singaporean version of the London Eye.

NEXT TIME ON .. THE AMAZING RACE:

Phil: In Singapore Dan/Jordan test their fear of heights.
In a tower above the city, brothers discussing fearfully:  I have an intense fear of heights!
Phil: ... and find out what Brent/Caite do that angers Carol/Brandy.
Both teams in cabs, driving.  The lesbian calls them assholes or summat.

Liked the tasks, considering they were related to the various religions of Penang, but really thought all the taxi craziness became repetitive midway and dragged the episode down slightly towards the end.

Getting out of the cabs was a horrible decision. Even then, Steve/Allie still had a fighting chance until they switched detours imo.

Jet/Cord amazingly efficient this leg. Well done!

I think we only have a first-to-last and last-to-first leg in S10(leg 5 and 6 ). A complete reversal  is just unbelievable!!!!

Anyway them not having their backpacks did not hinder them.

It was one - going to the other detour.. bad decision by Steve.. and two... seriously, cab drivers.

But i can't deny and say that if Allie was able to do the flag pole, they wouldn't have been eliminated.

So this is yet another, 1/2 gender discrimination RB. I would have loved to see Carol and Brandy try and complete it and freaking out totally just for pure entertainment purposes. :D

Going to the other Detour might not have been a bad decision in and of itself, since Allie might not have been able to do the pole Detour anyway.  But deciding to abandon their cab and walk was a big error, and they were also at the mercy of a bad taxi driver.  The switching Detours was just the final nail in their coffin.

Good episode, not the best for me. Editing was kind of rough (what was with the random music after Jet & Cord and Carol & Brandy checked in? Some kind of poorly put together ominous foreshadowing?), Detour was interesting, liked the Roadblock, and the complete reversal was very impressive. Didn't like that it forced out Steve & Allie though. :(

And the taxis were the drawback of the episode for me. I won't go further into this.

And what a surprise: This leg we the return of Louie & Michael's self-righteous attitude as they decide to target yet another team for not being likable/positive enough for them. And Steve & Allie and Dan & Jordan just go along with it. :groan:

I predict Carol & Brandy out after being U-turned next leg. Possibly just because of the U-turn. :P

Haha. It could be surprising if only one happens on one leg. But both happening on the SAME leg. Oh my gosh you have to wonder what could've happened.

Also, how could everyone in the middle get reversed too?? Luck really doesn't pick sides IMO.

Actually, IMO everything started going downhill for them after that idiotic taxi driver who said the temple was 4-5 mins. away by walking. After that, he still took them to the wrong temple. So basically, they had nearly no other choice than to try the flag detour (which I doubt they could've completed) unless they wander around Penang all day.

IMO if they had not stayed with their taxi driver at the wrong temple and found a new one like Dan/Jordan did, they could've beat the bros.

I agree, but honestly, going from one detour site to the other and back in mid-day Penang traffic is a terrible idea as it is quite a distance between the temple and the plag pole task field. If anyone reads this that is going to participate in future TARs, don't change yoour detour unless you are absolutely sure someone else is going to follow suit.

Buddhist != Taoist... :groan:
neobie, I know you are Asian and would tend to know more than me on this and I cannot tell for surewhether you are being sarcastic (I think you are). A close friend of mine is a Taoist I have consulted on this question. This is a highly complex subject so I am trying not to over-simplify. Buddhism and Taoist are related but not the same. Ideological and political rivals for centuries, Taoism and Buddhism deeply influenced one another and now share some similar values of a humanist  philosophy emphasizing moral behavior and human perfection.

This is not surprising since Taoism incorporated Buddhist elements such as monasteries, vegetarianism, prohibition of alcohol, the doctrine of emptiness, and collecting scripture in tripartite organization. Experts have decided that a number of Buddhist sutras found in medieval East Asia and Central Asia adopted many materials from earlier Taoist scriptures.
