This program was on last Tuesday. My wife bought the ingredients and we decided to cook this meal tonight, Sunday night based on my VCR tape of the program. Ramsay is king of showmanship and he had many elements of the program designed to dazzle. He invited 3 celebrities to come and cook on  camera in an large open kitchen with a large audience. He had TV hookups with 16 remote sites plus Whoopi Goldberg (who does not cook anything) and her daughter. Those celebrities were Cedric the Entertainer, LeeAnne Rimes and actress Allison Hannigan. Ramsay had Cedric cooking at the main stage for the appetizer while the two females were on side stages, then Allison Hannigan was on the mainstage and the other 2 on the side stages for the main course, and finally LeeAnne on the main stage with the other 2 on side stages. The audience discovered that they all had minimal cooking talent, but LeeAnne seemed to have much more than the other two.

Ramsay had several sidebar events, including a brief segment of him with Jay Leno and visiting Cedric's refrigerator to find some amusing things hidden inside vegetables and fruit and a milk carton. He also invited 7 members of some fire department to be present when the flaming of Steak Diane was happening. He also planted a fire extinguisher in Whoopi's pantry.

The cooking itself was not difficult given the detailed directions, but the speed of cooking required more time than the show allowed. My wife decided to just PAUSE the remote control multiple times. The first course of shrimp with angel hair pasta was absolutely delicious, particularly the contributions of jalapeno peppers and lemon juice. The second course Steak Diane was good, particularly Ramsay's sauce and the special potatoes my wife procured. We skipped the third course of tiramisu due to heavy cream being something I don't need.

I was pleased with the food, but all the hoopla was ridiculous. Ramsay the showman took over and did not let Ramsay the chef make an appearance. He did not even wear a white chef's jacket. If he has another special, I will watch it but again I will tape it. Ramsay did do a good job as ringmaster of a coast-to-coast circus.
