Here are the weekly average Nielsen ratings:

Code:
week  1) 6.89
week  2) 5.64
week  3) 6.32
week  4) 6.90
week  5) 7.13
week  6) 7.80 (Chima expulsion)
week  7) 7.51
week  8) 7.95
week  9) 7.58
week 10) 7.26

As in the previous seasons, after week 1 viewership climbed steadily. This year, though, it only increased until week 6's Tuesday 8/18 Chima expulsion show. The immediate 9.3% drop on 8/20 was the largest Tuesday-Thursday drop in the show's history (after week 1). In the season's second half, as in most previous years, non-core viewers return only for eviction shows, so production is smart to pack in extra evictions late in the season. But even so, weeks 9 and 10 don't rise above Chima expulsion week 6's peak. Compared to week 6, except for a small upward blip of 1.9% at week 8, each week is substantially lower than week 6: week 7 is 3.7% lower, week 9 is 2.8% lower, and week 10 is 6.9% lower. As the producers know, the show does best when it can maintain the presence of an Evel Dick. America's Choice-type houseguests make for low ratings.

Here's the raw data. Tuesday evictions have an asterisk.

Thanks!

Every year is boring at the end, thank goodness we had 3 HG's instead of two, that was wise.

But this was a lazy bunch, they didn't want to do the fashion show, never seemed to think they were responsible for entertaining us, esp during BBAD.

I missed the sock puppets and Renny.....

I liked Chima and her drama, I wish she hadn't imploded. The ratings would have been better until or unless she was evicted the right way.

I did too and I'm not sure why others didn't either. I miss Big Brother already and I can't wait until Summer 2010.
