American Idol
« on: August 27, 2002, 06:35:39 PM »
Does anyone else watch American Idol? Have you noticed Justin's hair. It just so, so, so...BIG! It annoys me so much, I can't even watch the show. If this gig doesn't work out for your, Justin, just color your hair blue and pile it up and you could play Marge Simpson!

I just started to get into American Idol during the last 4 shows maybe.  I agree about Justin's Hair!  Hate it.  I was very disheartened when Tamyrea(spelling?)  was kicked off.  I did read in the Newspaper that Simon Cowell has already signed her.  He was very upset also.

Just got finished watching the finale and boy was I crying.  Very emotional song.  Seeing Kelly's mother crying was just too much for me.  CONGRATULATIONS KELLY CLARKSON!  I think she did a fabulous job and has a killer voice.  Imagine being 20 years old and this happening to you.

I was never able to get into the show, but I did watch the very last part tonite to see Kelly win. Even though I did not watch the show, I wanted her to win just because I hated Justin's hair so much. Congrats to Kelly

This was on iwon.com's celebrity news.  Wonder if there is anything to this?

ARE THEY OR AREN'T THEY?
There were some funny moments on the Today show this morning as American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson "accidentally" remarked that her relationship with runner-up Justin Guarini may not be strictly platonic. When a fan asked Clarkson if she was dating Guarini, she replied: "We're just friends. Nothing like that... yet." After realizing what she implied, the Texas resident — who was seated next to Guarini — blushed and retracted the comment. Proving that she might very well be the next Mariah Carey, Clarkson blamed the slip-of-the-tongue on, um, exhaustion. In related American Idol news, ratings for Wednesday's finale were big — Justin's hair big. The swan song attracted a series high 22.5 million viewers — the show's largest audience ever. Even more staggering: Nielsen estimates that nearly one in three adults aged 18-49 watched the two-hour event.

I enjoyed the American Idol show and was very happy that Kelly won.  Does anyone know when the second American Idol will be on.

I am so excited.  American Idol 2 starts next Tuesday and is for 1 1/2 hours and then right after they are having a half an hour show on what has happened to Kelly, Justin, Tamyra, Nikki, etc.  Should be good.  Then it is on again on Wednesday for another 1 1/2 hours.  I see on the fox website that Ryan Seacrest is the only host returning.  I am so glad because that Brian Dunkleman from last season was so unfunny -- it was sickening.

I did not see any of the show last season, but appearantly we are going to watch it this season.  My room mate has it all worked out tonight, so that we can see everything that we want to see :D.  I am not sure that I will like this show, but I am going to try it.  There sure was allot of hype with the last one, I hope it's good.  But if it makes me miss Judging Amy and the Gaurdian on nights that I am working because Cindi tapes it instead of my shows I will not be very happy, LOL >:(.

Theresa, I don't think you will be disappointed in the show.  It is really neat to see how talented people are or not very talented.  On the first show some people had awesome voices but they only sounded good singing a certain style of song whereas the eventual winner, Kelly Clarkson sounded good and believable singing different styles.

Okay after seeing the first two installments of American Idol 2 it blows me away the people who will do anything to get on tv.  I cannot believe some of the people who thought they had good voices and then were turned down by the judges had the nerve to talk back, etc.  But then they also find some good singers.  The twin girls that sang the Alicia Keys song Fallin sounded real good.  And then there were some cute guys.  I can hardly wait until they pare down the contestants and then we can hear them sing a full song. ;D

I watched and taped the American Idol episodes for my husband.  I laughed so hard.  My aunt wants to borrow the tape next.  I do love Simon.  I think he is so genuine.

I still have not seen an episode of AI.  Cindi has been watching it without me.  I just don't sit down and watch much tv, so I don't think I will see much of it.

Wow last nights American Idol sure had a lot of winners.  There was a contestant named Keith who made a fool of himself singing Madonna's Like a Virgin.  The judges were laughing.  The guy thought he was quite good.  I look forward to tonight's show as they are paring down the 240 people they have selected to go to hollywood to 30.

I watched it last night and it was heartbreaking to see some of the people get booted.  I thought it was interesting how they broke it up into 4 rooms of 16 each and 2 rooms stayed and 2 went home.

Oh boy, that's 3 rooms with 2 staying and 1 going.

Yes, it was heartbreaking to see the contestants fall apart after they were cut.  It seems like some were really hoping it would be the start of their new life instead of going to school, etc.  I look forward to the first show when they have the first 8 compete.  I hope all the contestants watched from last year because song selection is so important.
