Sorry, maybe just a bit unneccessary... :funny:

1501 and 1502....Hmmmm....Don't the producers code each leg as one number? When they had the two leg All-Stars episode, it was 1107/1108, right? Does this mean the first two legs in one premiere? Maybe the first leg is a non-elim? What do you guys think?

It all depends, TAR has done several two hour blocks that were 2 separate episodes shown back to back.  Most of the 2 hour final episode were in fact two separate episodes just shown on the same night (or as a poster mentioned the two Germany episodes of All Stars).

But the 2 hour openers (so far) have all been one episode that has been edited as a two hour episode instead of a single one hour episode.

At this stage I don't know which I think it is.  I know I am hoping that its the single episode shown over two hours.

I would naturally assume (based on TAR rating strength in comparison to the rest of its sunday lineup) that it is one episode, just shown over 2 hours.  HTe main reason I think this...

Its a huge way to get 2 hours at very little additional cost.  And since CBS has had some significant financial problems its a great way to fill an hour and save al ot of cash.

As an example, if a leg of TAR cost the production 1 million (just picking a number, I have no idea).  Then those are the set cost.  Thats covers all the preproduction, all the actual location filming and travel expense, and all the post production cost (editing, score, voice over work).

By stretching the film material into two hours (which was done in seasons 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9) they incur no additional preproduction cost, and most importantly no additional filming and travel costs (the largest part of TAR's budget).

Wasn't the last time that this happened was in Season 3?? Correct me if I'm wrong...

But no sightings yet... I have a random thinking... could the producers be actually filming the Race as close as the premiere so that spoilers won't leak? Like TARI filming the finale 1 week before it was aired??? Just wondering.

The last time a two-hour premiere occured was in Season 10. The last time both a two-hour premiere and two-hour finale occured was Season 9.

Season 10's premiere was only 90 minutes.  Which means the last time there was a two-hour premiere was in the same season that had the last two-hour finale (TAR9).  But since TAR3, a two-hour premiere occurred several times (and there have been a few 90-minute premieres as well).

As for TAR3, the premiere was only an hour IIRC.  However, there were 2-hour episodes in 2 of the final three episodes, including the finale.

But would they have time to edit the whole thing? And also that would be more costly because they must either mail the tapes back or have someone edit while going?

Good thing too!  Would've been a little surprising if the show ended in November.  Not just since the last season lasted longer than usual (on Mother's Day), but I couldn't imagine the finale falling on Thanksgiving weekend.

Would've been nice to end on 12/13, esp given the pattern had it not been for all of the conflicts.  It could've been an every seven years/seasons thing (S1 and S8 finished on 12/13; six seasons later, respectively, the show ended on 5/10 for S7 and S14, and the following season started on 9/27, respectively with S8 and S15).

But, I'm just glad we're getting a decent schedule, with no CBS double-header on 12/6.  And the Jets are playing on the Thursday before, so no worries in case of flexible scheduling.
