Location Lookout
« on: June 23, 2009, 10:53:56 PM »
I'll be in Cancun, Mexico from June 26th through the 29th and will be keeping a lookout during those days.  Anyone else going too be in possible locations?

I think they won't go on Countries affected by A(H1N1) Virus or Swine Flu, so I think there's MANY AFRICA LEGS in this season <3

I disagree. H1N1 has hit California pretty Badly. Maybe they'll start Denver or Chicago?

Maybe we'll get another East Coast start (we've only flown out from the East Coast three times, two of which were in Miami).

Bottom line: Anywhere but California will do. :res:

how about anywhere but southern California will do

i really want a Bay Area start, and as far as I know, we haven't been affected by the H1N1 virus too badly (but, i am slightly oblivious to local news...)

other possible starting locations (that haven't been used yet):
Boston, MA
Philadelphia, PA
Pittsburgh, PA
Washington, DC
Atlanta, GA
New Orleans, GA
Dallas, TX
Houston, TX
St. Louis, MO
Detroit, MI
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN
Phoenix, AZ
San Diego, CA
San Jose/San Francisco, CA
Portland, OR
Anchorage, AK

there are many other possible places, but I'm getting tired trying to list them all...

and again, I really don't think they'll want to stray too far from L.A. due to budget so we might see a start in Arizona, Nevada, or NorCal.

I'd like to help, too, even though I won't spot any racers!

EDIT: They moved my post. :P

To whoever moved it: I'm wasn't talking about helping with location lookout, because where I live is the least likely place to ever be visited by TAR. Now this post is kind of null and void. I was talking about helping with the spoilers in general. :P

I should have told you - the only way to get out of Louisville on a direct international flight is to be a box on UPS.

I have briefed both of my brothers (pilots) on what to look for that might be TAR-related.  And at minimum, I expect a detailed description; but pictures are even better.
Dear Lord: So far today, I'm doing alright. I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, selfish or nasty. I have not gossiped, cursed, whined or eaten chocolate. However, I am going to get out of bed in a minute, and will need a lot more help then. Amen.

I was searing on Google for "World Race"  and other tags like permit, LAX, or filming. I narrowed the search terms as of last week and last month. I got no good hits.

There are some stellar sleuths on here. Any other tips?

Rusty Pickle is a scrapbooking site doing some sort of Amazing Race Scrapbook competition. And a gazillion hits later... :groan: I know I will never be a scrapbooker,

Excluding he who knows is a good idea. I have had his page replicate itself endlessly and cause me to reboot. Plus he is stealing from us directly, word for word, without attribution. Not worth the time.

David Jr. and many others who were not part of RFF at the time, I ask you to consider what happened in AR11. Teams got to the bottom of South America, Ushuaia before they were spotted after the 4th episode was completed and starting the second week of AR11. If I were Bertram van Munster, I would use a route which minimizes publicity and makes it difficult for RFF to achieve its mission. It is posible that he has found such a route. I cannot believe that teams did not leave at least by yesterday. Probably we will see once the race is spotted. Can you imagine a route which gets all the way to the finish without being spotted. That would require the use of some obscure airlines.

Could WRP actually shut off all possible means of filming while teams are at airports? I might say that they are having a new approach right now... But even so we do not spot teams, how about clues? It's July and September is getting close as well...

I could probably think that they're planning a new approach to film the Race moments before its premiere??  :duno:

Last season, they still showed airport scenes, but not plenty!  Thats why they mean "Fewer Airports."  We would still see airport scenes like last season, but not as much.

This very well may be the time that TPTB have the teams fly individually to a start in a foreign locale. Their backpacks could even be shipped by TPTB so the teams would not be carrying their backpacks when they leave and would blend in with the other passengers.  Teams could arrive by the end of June in a location not visited by too many American tourists such as Belize.  From there they could fly to an African location for ep1, another African location for ep2 or even ep3.  And so on travelling by lesser means (by train even when possible) to locations not usually visited by hordes of American tourists and RFF spies.

If the race is starting now one place I would not look for them is in France.  The Tour de France runs until July 26 and travel unrelated to the Tour would be hard to do.  So from Africa they could go to the Baltic states, Bulgaria, Belarus, and other lesser known places as the various Stans.  So TAR15 could actually travel quite far without us being aware of what is going on.  Perhaps TPTB could even have members of any airline used sign confidentiality papers (for a small fee and promise of airtime) just to keep them from blabbing about who might be on a flight with them.

All just speculation, of course, by a chemical weakened brain.

I'll keep a look out for them during my trip. Will be flying from Shanghai HongQiao to Shenzhen and later to Singapore. Will report anything if I see them. :D And also wouldn't it be obvious it they were teams because they MUST have video recorders so shouldn't the people following the teams have big bags?

I think they should start at the LaBrea Tar Pits! That would make for some interesting TV, people running for their cars and getting stuck in the pits.
Just here to visit.

i will keep my eyes peeled in San Fran and Miami all day tomorrow!

and i will be keeping a watch in Guayaquil all throughout my trip, just in case they go to SA at the end of the race...

but even if i do get some info, it will have to wait until July 24th, when i get back (so hopefully i won't be the only one who sees them, if i do...)

Malaysian Borneo and a couple of cities Down Under are on my itinerary this coming month, wonder if I'd get lucky?

Given recent history, I'd wager that someone needs to set a stakeout at the Delhi airport.

I didn't get lucky in Manila. :'(

Given recent history, I'd wager that someone needs to set a stakeout at the Delhi airport.

Someone should prob. stay in Mumbai airport as well, if that's the case. ;)
I'm baaaaaack!

With the Michael Jackson memorial being held there, I think we can be sure that the starting line will not be the Staples Centre in LA today. Or anywhere around there.

With all of the extra traffic in LA today it should be difficult to get away undetected.

RIP Michael  :'(

But couldn't they just make the pitstart of the race earlier so that they could catch their flight...OR we could have a team missing their flight and having to quit on the first leg. That would be funny.  :funny:

I'm sure they went somewhere else if the race were to start today. Plus, most of CBS' resources are all in LA to cover the memorial service.
Just here to visit.

Decided to join the friendly banter at RFF, and my favorite show. My husband is a flight attendant and he will be flying to Amsterdam, Montreal, Toronto, Frankfurt, Barcelona and possibly Munich and Barcelona in the coming month.

So any word of them traveling through Europe let me know. Although I wont have to prod him too much as he is a huge fan too. I know he will be on the lookout for any signs, route markers or  teams in his travels.

I think last year he missed the teams as they connected through Germany by just a few hours.

Hoping for a sighting this year! Will let ya know.
