CBS walls off neighborhood for reality show

Block-party In the latest reality show "social experiment," CBS has walled off eight homes in an Atlanta suburb, forcing the neighbors inside to spend time with each other.

The Mike Fleiss project was previously announced as a game show, but some intriguing new details have emerged.

"It will be a bizarre [experience] for all of them," Fleiss said. "This is ambitious as it gets."

Tentatively called "Block Party," the families in will be trapped inside the 20' maximum security-looking wall for about three weeks for a cash prize.

The idea is almost like a real-life version of "The Simpsons Movie," where the town of Springfield was sealed under an impenetrable dome.

"American Idol" vet Matt Rogers will host. Here's a local news video of the structure featuring an interview with Fleiss.

Kennesaw  is about 30 miles from me, but I know people up there so will ask them about it.

Can you imagine being locked up with 8 of your neighbors?? :groan:

Wonder how they EVER picked 8 houses in a row any where??

"THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD," A NEW REALITY-COMPETITION SERIES, PREMIERES SUNDAY, AUG. 9 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
In the Ultimate Social and Family Bonding Experiment, Eight Families in a Suburban Neighborhood Are Enclosed by a Massive 20-Foot Wall To Compete

for the Grand Prize of $250,000

Matt Rogers ("American Idol," "Really Big Things") Hosts

THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD, a new seven episode reality-competition series, premieres Sunday, Aug. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.   The series features eight families in a suburban neighborhood who are enclosed by a massive 20-foot wall as they compete in family-friendly games for the grand prize of $250,000.

In what promises to be the ultimate social and family bonding experiment, this neighborhood will be cut off from the outside world as it becomes family vs. family in a competition to win upgrades for their lives and their homes.  With virtually no electricity and no ability to text-message, watch television or surf the Internet, these families will be forced to reconnect and work together as a team.  For the duration of the competition, the eight homes will be surrounded by the daunting wall with no way in or out.  Each week, another family will be voted out of the game until one victorious group remains to claim the $250,000 grand prize.

"This show is truly a social experiment," says executive producer Mike Fleiss.  "We've never seen anything like it before. An entire neighborhood trapped behind a giant wall.  It's insane!"

THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD is produced by Next Entertainment and Jay Bienstock Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.  Mike Fleiss ("The Bachelor," "High School Reunion") and Jay Bienstock ("The Apprentice") are the executive producers.  Matt Rogers ("American Idol," "Really Big Things") is the host.

I watched the premier last night ....thank goodness for DVR :yess: I liked it! I was really surprised at the first family voted out. I myself could never do anything like this. They are all worried about their friendships being destroyed and still having to live side by side. Guess they should have thought of that before they signed up to do the show. Looks like there will be a lot of drama...hope the show has good ratings.
delightful just delightful

Anyone else think this is a Big Brother type show? I'm not sure what I think about this concept especially the requirement to vote out a neighbor. These people have to continue to live there long after the cameras leave.  :duno:

They wouldn't have a problem getting that to happen where I am! Just block off a whole dorm building and you're set! :cmaslol
