Here's the deal with me: I have downloaded it and to tell you the truth, it is not worth it! I try to type long things on the internet(On forums and stuff, and it goes up to the top again! I have been posting my long posts in word now. Don't download it puddin! It's no better than the earlier version! Whenever I open a new tab, It either doesn't load, or it takes forever! After I open more than two it doesn't work at all! I honestly think it is slower!

I've tried firefox and other browsers but am a creature of habit and refuse to leave IE. I'm looking forward to more comments but for now I'll stick with IE7 .............thats until they force us to go to 8 I guess. I'm really looking forward to Windows Media 12 ..when ever that happens I have no idea!

Gosh, I use Firefox all the time and only use IE (6!) rarely. I love it. I looked at Google's Chrome, hated it. You can import all your IE Favorites and contacts if you want.

It does take memory, but it does so many more things that I love. Tabs, a little addon called ForecastFox from Accuweather which sits nicely on the bottom of the browser with custom settings like radar, severe weather notices to name a few. Ad blocker and a pop-up blocker which I love because I despise pop-ups. (I think IE has a pop-up blocker but I rarely use it so I'm not sure.) Firefox has spell checker too, it highlights misspelled words after you type them, for example as I type this reply and all I have to do is right click on the word to get the correct spelling. Love it!

I don't think I'll try out IE8, I've heard too many reports of bugs and slow loading time. I was planning on trying IE again, since I've been mainly using Firefox, but I'd need to hear some more positive reviews first.

IE8 is not for me, yet anyway! They need to get some of the bugs worked out imo. I went back to IE7 because the 8 had some odd scrolling thing going on and when I went to quote someone, or copy and paste something, then try to type in my reply the page would scroll back to the top and it was hard to read what I was replying to let alone trying to type. I admit I'm not the greatest at spelling so not being able to see what I was typing without previewing it first was frustrating.

That's what it is like for me! I can't see what I am typing. And I modify my posts about 4 times before I feel comfortable with them!

Now i have to turn off auto-updates so that its not installed again Saw some weird things with "scrolling" while trying to post on this board using a PC with Vista/IE8. Reported it to Rob who says it may be due to IE8 incompatibility with the forum s/w. Firefox doesn't seem to have any issues, so maybe you can still have IE8 and use FF to post on this forum till Rob gets a forum update. UPDATE: OK, just tried something which seems to fix the "scrolling" issue when using IE8 to post on this forum.... You have to click the "COMPATABILITY VIEW" button at the top of IE8 (by the address bar). This will force IE8 to work with older style web sites. When I turned it on I was able to enter text in a post without any unintended scrolling. I see this as a temporary fix, until Rob gets a forum update. You can set IE8 to automatically use COMPATABILITY VIEW (for RFF Forum) by clicking the menu "Tools" -> "Compatability View Settings".

Sounds like you're suffering from tecno inertia. At least you're not stuck in the stone ages with IE6 (like Peach). No one says you can't have more than one browser installed.... in fact having at least two gives you an alternative when one gets hit by a trojan/virus attack. I have three on my PC. Come on ....come over to the dark side... live dangerously...try IE8 again.... you may like it NOW!

I'm using firefox, thanks guys! I can go to applications at facebook and they don't close! And if they do it remembers the last page I was using! Only once it closed though,, I was going to fast for it I think.
Is it a flash thing with IE7 or am I nuts?

I LOVE FF, after you go to facebook a few times all you need to type in the address block will be F and once it learns that means facebook, off you go.. I did allow IE 8 to install, it's nice.. but hmm... can I blame it for my hard drive dying?

Still using web browsers for email...? should be using an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird to send/receive your (POP3) mail. Browser mail is so yesterday... ...we're still waiting for you on the dark side.... come join puddin and me in the IE8 club... "Compatability View" can be your friend.... HATED Outlook when I tried it, don't mind gmail too much, I LIKe having an outside email server in case my computer crashes... Or did until yesterday when AT&T upgraded to YaHoo which SUCKS! heh....do you WORK for IE8?? Are they paying you?? Are there incentives involved?

Important stuff for IE users: Microsoft warns of serious computer security hole
* By JORDAN ROBERTSON, AP Technology Writer - Tue Jul 7, 2009 7:07AM EDT
SAN JOSE, Calif. -
Microsoft Corp. has taken the rare step of warning about a serious computer security vulnerability it hasn't fixed yet.
The vulnerability disclosed Monday affects Internet Explorer users whose computers run the Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating software.
It can allow hackers to remotely take control of victims' machines. The victims don't need to do anything to get infected except visit a Web site that's been hacked.
Security experts say criminals have been attacking the vulnerability for nearly a week. Thousands of sites have been hacked to serve up malicious software that exploits the vulnerability. People are drawn to these sites by clicking a link in spam e-mail.
The so-called "zero day" vulnerability disclosed by Microsoft affects a part of its software used to play video. The problem arises from the way the software interacts with Internet Explorer, which opens a hole for hackers to tunnel into.
Microsoft urged vulnerable users to disable the problematic part of its software, which can be done from Microsoft's Web site, while the company works on a "patch" — or software fix — for the problem.
Microsoft rarely departs from its practice of issuing security updates the second Tuesday of each month. When the Redmond, Wash.-based company does issue security reminders at other times, it's because the vulnerabilities are very serious.
A recent example was the emergency patch Microsoft issued in October for a vulnerability that criminals exploited to infect millions of PCs with the Conficker worm. While initially feared as an all-powerful doomsday device, that network of infected machines was eventually used for mundane moneymaking schemes like sending spam and pushing fake antivirus software.

This neowin.net article pretty much says the same thing, EXCEPT they add the following: ... "Internet Explorer 6 and 7 users are at risk but NOT Internet Explorer 8 users." you decide....

I saw that in my local newspaper today. Luckily I'm on IE 8. (Usually that's a bad thing).

on my other computers my family swears IE8 made them faster but I hate it on my desktop so use Firefox as well. Something about Flash and IE8 makes my page crash, I have found no solution to this problem.

Okay...have a puzzle. Recently had a new hard drive and I am not 100% sure everything I USED to have is back. I USED to have a small white box that appeared just above every video I ran...that said DOWNLOAD THIS VIDEO. If I did, it did, and went to RP library. That little box is gone now...and Windows Media is currently opening my videos. I want that box back...I have RP, but if it was RP doing it...how to I get there again? If it was something else...who? What do I need to install? Thanks guys!

I use an addon called Download Helper but it's for Firefox. Maybe you had something like that installed for IE?
