I bet that is ink from the Caligraphy detour, not coal on Kisha's hand!

It looks like Hercules from AICN has already watched it:

Herc’s Seen Things Get Nasty
On Tonight’s AMAZING RACE!!

The big destination this week is Guilin, China, where absurdly fabulous Chinese-American Tammy Jih and bossy big bro Victor come to regret not paying closer attention in Chinese school when they discover which tasks will soon be assigned them. The good news is Tammy & Victor both speak Mandarin, and Tammy visited Guilin earlier for spring break.

There’s also a vicious bird attack, the teams have to choose between choreography and calligraphy, and the redheaded cheerleaders run into trouble when they, rather predictably, choose choreography.

8 p.m. Sunday. CBS.

I love the detour choice! It's soooo fun to reread speak and re speak again!

The italicized part looks more to me of a confirmation of the title... does it? I know Chinese schools do teach chinese calligraphy (shao kai is the name I think... ) but dancing? Well maybe too...

Why does everyone want this episode spoiled? First Bonnie, now this??? Would this be for the sake ratings going up or down anyway? (Sorry, I'm not that familiar with US Television tactics on Ratings... I only know how rude and insane the ratings game here in our country - very much alike Luke and Jen in this episode... )

Thanks Slayton so the RB is for the birds which makes sense since teams usually take turns ie> Mark/Victor/Marge did the RB last week.

The question is what or where does Folded Brocade Hill (Die Cai Hill) come in?

Thanks to Joab's excellent find:

Quote
On the 24th morning, she reached the hotel at 7.30am in the morning and started working. Because filming will begin on the next day, they have to finish all the preparation by today and ensure that nothing goes wrong. She talks about how the foreigners (production team) does not have the habit of taking an afternoon nap and some of them didn't even take their lunch. She worked for the entire day and only ate a few biscuits and felt awful.

kept ourselves busy with making the props. J.R told us that the props must be done by 9.30pm and transported up Die Cai Shan to be prepared and put into place. Then the four of us (Seth, J.R and Nora), together with another 2 masters at making props from Guilin, had to give up the idea of eating a proper meal to rush out the props. At around 8pm, the props were still not done but they had to move them up to the mountain already.
We were able  to make contact but she was unable to tell us more:

Hello,

Looks like you guys are big fans of the show!

I'm not very good with dates; usually just remember which day of the week it is. Thinking back, I'm not very sure with the dates, sorry!

... we couldn't know exactly what the activities are.

My guess is that she added a week to the dates, perhaps just looked at a calendar in error?

Anyway, we can tie this in with Neobie's excellent detective work, hopefully he will add his nice summary here! :hearts:

what are the boards for? learn Chinese?

Lucky guess!  ,, I'm still not sure where the "coal" idea came from though?

Looks like maybe what you all thought was a jacket at choreography might turn out to be a statue? or something....

I'll guess
1st Tammy & Victor
2 The Sisters
3 Marge & Luke
4 Cara & Jamie
5 last .. the Brothers

Okay...no mountain yet? So wonder if maybe they do something there before they leave Guilin after the PitStop??

Or did I miss it? I was late to the party...

Well, if Guilin is the 36 hour pit stop, they might be having that suprise birthday party for the person on the production crew, mentioned at Narita airport.....or maybe just a secluded place for group meal. But it still doesn't explain the props. But maybe you are right......the morning afte pit stop.

Or how about this. M/L, T/V and J/C were supposed to leave Guangzhou at 8:30 pm. It is only a one hour flight. How come it shows them all leaving the airport in daylight? K/J were on the 9:10 and M/M were on the 11:10 I think. I think you could only do the detour at night. Just have to light the area. I dont think you could do the fishing. So as the producers, do you want them spending the night on the street somewhere, waiting on a HoH. Just maybe, they picked the all the teams up at the airport and took them to the top of that mountain for the waiting period. Then hauled them all back to the airport around 3 am, so they could be released in daylight at the same time interval and in the same order, that they arrived the night before. That way the whole day could be filmed in daylight.

I'm thinking it's come and gone! (:;)

We got several clues that the Folded Brocade Mountains took place on the night of the 17th - witnesses remembered it drizzling that day, and that it was a Monday. The place being sealed from 6pm to the next morning matches our missing time with the racers - with first scheduled arrivals in Guilin at 9.30pm. TPTB manipulated the race to prevent any earlier flight!

Was it a pseudo-Pit Stop where you check in and depart after a certain amount of time? And the props?

With the overnight stay we've filled up the extra day we had - no 36h Pit Stops here, or from now on!

(It's always the places we've spoiled - Canadian teepees - that they edit out... :()

They do read them. It is just that they are watching on the other side of the world and think they are in synch with us, when they are not. Usually, anyway....I didn't see what happened this time.

He gave away the end and even said he was sorry if he spoiled us. I wouldn't expect it from someone thats been here for quite sometime. Hes lucky I did not ban him forever! No kidding and no breaks this time.

I have to agree with peach that people do read them. It is just that different timezones + different locations + different tv stations make everything a big commotion...  :jam:
