Question for the Racers for TARCON XIV
« on: March 06, 2009, 06:51:52 PM »
If and when TARCon XIV is announced, we need to gather our questions if and when we get to meet the racers. We seem to put one up every year, and we seem to forget our questions .

But I'm determined to remember them this year (writing or printing them out might help, TARAsia Fan!  :wise).

One, how many hours did Tammy & Victor walk off course in Romania? Based on Neobie's map, it appears to be at least two hours, but it would be good to get an idea how long it actually was.

Two, how close were Linda & Steve to Christie & Jodi at the mat in Salzburg?

Three, in Switzerland, did any of the racers feel like rolling their cheese wheels directly at the band as they were laughing just to quiet them down?

Ok, maybe the third question is me deflecting on the racers, but ... well you know my feeling on this.

I'd like to know if Mark & Michael were really told by production to hide the pumps in Phuket?
Also would like to know more about the hidden task on episode 9, the drums on Folded Brocade Hill.

From what Jamie was saying in the Episode 9 confessional, Mark/Mike were not at the same place in Bangkok as the other teams. She said she didnt know if they were eliminated or if it was a NEL in Bangkok. She said she realized they were still in the race when she saw their picture on the speedbump at the hair salon. I want to find out where production told them to hide out so the other teams didnt see them.

I really want to know what was T/V's parents' reaction to their performance at the roadblock and their confession of not paying that much attention in chinese school

Do Chinese children go both to normal school and then to Chinese school, or is that just for overseas Chinese?

My parents sent me to a Chinese language school when I little.

Some parents do that. My parents wanted me to learn Mandarin and Taiwanese. Needless to say, I speak very little of both.

I can't say first-hand, but I understand from other sources that walking up 500 steps to the top of Folding Brocade Mountain/Hill was the task. The accompaniment to it was drums, but the drums were not critical tol the task.

I think Mel and Mike revealed in an interview that they were supposed to buy supplies using their own money, then deliver them to the Phuket Sunshine Village Orphanage, on Ko Sireh near the Detour docks.

OK, a few questions that might help us further down the road...

1. TPTB has gone the way of the non-standard Pit Stop, with durations running all over the place. Are the durations fixed beforehand, or are they adjusted so the first/last team leaves before/after a pre-determined time? (Special emphasis on Salzburg, because we haven't figured out why they would allow Tammy/Victor to skip the train station bunching.)

2. What airlines and airports are teams not allowed to use?

Do we know which racers are coming yet?

With 16 days to go, there hasn't been much talk of the event.  Given the fact that there wasn't a season this time last year, looks like some people might have had other plans that affect the event (directly and/or indirectly).  Doesn't help that it's Mother's Day.  Give it a week or so; the buzz should start to build by then.

Though it's worth mentioning, the fact is: With TARcon being a party for the fans, and by the fans, it's more or less an "I'll believe it when I see it" scenario.  In other words, no one would know for sure until we get to May 10th.  Some have had a few stars, and others have had a lot.  Fortunately since it's a warm weather event, it's likely, but not definite.

At least there hasn't been a season where someone showed up.  It's been as few as 5 racers from a respective season and 11 overall to 22 in a season (and 40 overall, twice in two different years).  You just never know for sure, which makes it even better (the anticipation, that is).
Every reality star is someone's favorite

Winning isn't everything, but it isn't considered nothing either. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a tribal council, a pit-stop, a boardroom, dimming of the lights, and so on

I'm only a veteran of the last two TARCon's so I'm not a good barometer, but the turnout for XIII was fantastic. XII not so much. But it all depends on the season as RC mentioned above.

I hope to join Peach early on. If not, I'll be there the day of and I'll bring my computer so I can give you all some play-by-play or even a live blog as it happens.

From tonight:

How painful was the foot massage?

How was it like putting on the LZR swimsuit.

Didn't any of the racers know that when Phil is alone at the mat, it means TBC and not a full pit stop.

This question isn't about the race, but could you ask Tammy about the story behind her holding the panda in the photos on her Facebook?  That's a lot more exciting that getting's ones foot massaged.   ;D

Hi Brad! This made me laugh as well!

Why didn't the airline actually inform you of the bad weather in the Netherlands actually?

----

To those who are going to TARCon...

Please ask these questions if anyone's going, please! ^_^ (How about a souvenir? signature? Hehehe... I'm so envious that you get to meet and greet the racers! **sob**)

1. Tammy and Victor = How did they feel when there were three legs in China? I mean, I would sure think the other teams would have thought that that would be unfair at all - and considering they have been there, and how about the other countries that they seem to breeze upon? Do they actually have glimpses of the country itself (like Phuket, Thailand?)

Why didn't they choose the swim task, provided the clue stated that floaters can be used?

2. Jaime and Cara = how was the taxi thing going on? After the comments made about China, would either of them visit the country again?

General:

3. How did Jaime or Victor or Luke react to the TBC? Considering that they're the actual fans, several seasons before they competed, we all thought that the TBC was extinct then...

4. How does it actually feel when Phil said that they're the last team to arrive and they're eliminated? We see it as a one sided view on television, but when you're tired how does it feel? Is it insult to injury or something?

5. How hard was it finding "Wenchang Ge?"  :funny: We all did have a hard time finding it as well though here in the spoilers section.. hahaha

Thanks a WHOLE LOT and Have fun guys!!!

It was inevitable ever since they moved the show to Sunday.  There's still time though...maybe work out a brunch deal, rain-check everything, or bring "mom" to TARcon as the best Mom's Day gift ever!

So what are really the chances anyone from Final 3 will be there? I mean, I could definitely see past or current Races that are somewhat local, and I know Sunday is Mother's Day (for whatever affect that might have) and that past events had variable outcomes, but the F3 should be in NYC anyway for the Early Show on Monday (and my NYC friend said the place this is happening is an awesome bar), but I was just trying to get a better feel for how anyone thinks this one on Sunday will go? Thanks for anyone's help!
