My guess was listed here, but it was only a guess; the Matten cowbellers could have been trucked to another spot. Maybe the TOI-Interlaken people thumbed through their rolodex and called the Matten TrychlerClub: "Grab your bells and head up the mountain to farmer john's cottage tomorrow morning." The only reason I chose that patch of ground is the steep slope which lands at city-level (the trychler cap), and the cottage near the bottom of the slope.

If Peach's investment in Murren research does prove useful, I have some transportation information that is a slightly more extensive than previously reported:

A series of four cable cars, known as the Luftseilbahn Stechelberg-Mürren-Schilthorn (LSMS), provides transportation from Mürren downhill to Gimmelwald and Stechelberg, and uphill to the summit of the Schilthorn and the revolving restaurant Piz Gloria. This was a principal filming location for the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service, released in 1969.

Mürren is also connected to Lauterbrunnen by the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren, which consists of a narrow gauge railway and a connecting aerial tramway. Mürren is also the lower terminus of the Allmendhubelbahn funicular.

There are no roads connecting up to Murren. so going there can only be accomplished by one of the above or maybe by helicopter.

An interesting little toy here, although I'm not sure how useful it is. Enter the following to see the initial drive:
  • 4442 Doolittle, Los Alamitos, CA (start)
  • 6351 West Century, Los Angeles, CA (Park One/finish)
Los Alamitos doesn't allow Street View, so that won't kick in until you reach the 605 fwy. On the parent page, there's a more useful photo mapper with embedded Flickr and Panoramio.

Yes but there is no little man going around sweeping them up as soon as they land on the ground, which makes it more likely to be a bit rural rather than a park in the centre of town

Well duh , I knew that! Mrs Shrek is right, more rural than snowy alps.

And that's why I like Murren or some other small town near the Lauterbrunnen Valley since there are nice grassy, wooded hills just outside of the town.  Gimmelwald or Wegen are other good ideas.

But in looking at all my pictures of the area, these towns seem too high up for deciduous trees which we see around the cheese task.  So maybe it is back to the Matten area which is lower down and also near Interlaken. Unless, of course, they do the cheese task in Matten and then travel up to Murren or Gimmelwald or Wegen for the pit stop.

Bad news:  TVGuide gives no special mention to TAR14 debut on Feb. 15.  But two pages on Survivor's debut on Feb. 12.

Great day for Puddin on Feb 15 - NASCAR at Daytona Beach in the afternoon, TAR in the evening.

More bad news:  Oscar is sure to swamp poor TAR ep 2 on Feb 22!!

??? From tv.com:

All teams are surprised when they are almost immediately thrust into a challenge described as "death-defying." Later, the teams travel to Switzerland.
So they do something before leaving LA? I guess I wasn't paying attention.  :didimiss:

"death-defying." = Navigate yourself in LA traffic to LAX...  :funny: :funny: :funny:

although I still would love to see them  parachute out of those helis! I think the death defying of course probably refers to our bungy jump... an editorial faux pas...

Maybe winched into the helicopters from the deck of sinking ship  :swim - someone (I forget who) did say there were boats involved somehow.  :duno:

I remember seeing On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Piz Gloria!  It had a different function in the film than it did in real life!

You mean flat-out preempt the second episode till the following week?  If things were going to be like that, they'd have waited to start the new season after the Oscars.
