A more logical sequence would be the bunching to occur at Narita Airprot. Phil has stated on his Diary video that he left the Beijing pit stop at 330pm, so all teams finished before then. The first possible flight from Beijing to Narita is JL780 0825 1255. That gives all teams ample time to be on the first flight departing Narita for Honolulu, which is the previously discussed JO76 1845 0645+1 and its related "extra flight" JO8090 30 minutes later. Why did teams take the one hour later PEK NRT flight CA925? I certainly can't say, but there is no harm to taking CA925 on the connection to the Honollu-bound flights. World Race Productions has a history of getting teams near the pit stop as early in the day as possible to minimizie sighting potential. I see only a tiny probability that tasks in Honolulu would have created the bunching. There is a possibility for airport bunching if the flight to Maui is to Kapalua airport, which has only 4 flights a day. It that was not specified, teams would take the next available flight from Honolulu to Maui - Kahului airport. There are about 3 every hour, so that would depend on the time to clear U.S. customs. If it is Kahului as the destination airport, I expect that WRP will find some way of guaranteeing that all 3 F3 teams are on the same flight. Arriving at the same time should do that, but not always.
