Guess we need to review the flights now, this is the tricky flight leg right?

Not really, Peach. It was done 11 days ago at:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EPISODE 3 FLIGHTS
I have taken a fresh look at the flights from Fortaleza to either Santa Cruz or LaPaz Bolivia for episode 3, based on looking at each leg through Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Lima. This is a very difficult route with long connections. Although the distances are not like Argentina to Moscow or Ushuaia to Maputo, it will take 12 hours or more to do this. Here are the possiblities for Fortaleza to Santa Cruz:

Best if pitstop release time is in the afternoon is JJ3849 FOR GRU 1515 1835 connecting in SaoPaulo with G37460 GRU VVI 2200 0115. There is a slightly earlier alternate fOR GRU - G31883 1440 1810.

The one most teams are likely to get is JJ3325 FOR GRU 0730 1130 connecting in Sao Paulo with 5L301 GRU VVI 1600 1730.

If a leading team is released by midnight, then they could get JJ3323 FOR GRU 0130 0500 connecting in Sao Paulo with AR1263 SRU EZE 0630 0925 and connecting in Buenos Aires with AR1362 EZE VVI 1115 1320.

Other routes from GRU to VVI through EZE are inferior; only this one above works for AR13.

For FOR LPB there are few options and the best is taking the middle option for get on 5L301 which goes GRU VVI and then continues on to LPB after a lengthy stopover, arriving at 2115; summarizing, it is 5L301 GRU LPB 1600 2115. In front of that you have JJ3325 FOR GRU 0730 1130.

Another option to LPB is to go through LIM.  We start FOR GRU with JJ3325 0730 1130. Next is GRU LIM LP780 1450 1810. finally, we have 5L1405 LIM LPB 2130 0015 or 3 hours later than the prior combination.

And if you are also thinking about next week's flights, they were done at post #170 soon after.

Or this. Or this. (If you've ever heard El Condor Pasa you have an idea of what huaynos/waynos are about)

puddin, actually wayno is not a type of song. It is a musical group called Group Wayno. It performs primarily in Peru but given the proximity of Bolivia(particularly the eastern end of Lake Titicaca where LaPaz is near) I am guessing that they also get to Bolivia.

Group Wayno

Good job on finding the tunnel.   I told y'all they use a side street for the bikes.    So why are the blondes and Aja at The Prado.  And what about the comic book guys running past the Government Palace?

They could be running toward Artisan Alley / Witch Market, but where are they coming from.

Nice Boingo!

We still need another Detour!!

Maybe shop in the Witches Market until you find the marked one of these (from the Intro caps)? (spec)

Found this travel guide for Bolivia travelers, particularly elevation adjustment.

Quote
How do I adjust to the altitude?
Gradual exposure to higher elevation and time are the only sure ways to acclimate. When possible, arriving to La Paz (elevation 11,930') a day early or starting your trip with an extension to Sucre (elevation 9,155') for 2-3 days will help. It is also recommended to drink plenty of water, eat lightly and avoid alcoholic beverages for the first day or two. Many travelers find that drinking coca tea is also effective
hmmm... wonder if TAR is kind enough to give them one day to adjust.... naaaah!

Oh, but also, there were lots of brass bands typical of Bolivia.

From an interview with Anthony and Stephanie over in the Racers thread where they are talking about Anita and Arthur in Sequesterville,

"Anthony: We couldn’t have asked for a more accepting, warm welcome. I think they were a little more welcoming than we were to the next couple that showed up."

Maybe a hint that the next elimination is a M/F team?

We have photo evidence of the couples left here as well as eyewitness reports so if spoilers/sightings are right, Marisa/Brooke or Bill/Mark are the next 2 teams to go, the order is for you all to decide.

future photos evidence of the "couples" remaining after NZ in Cambodia are:
Aja/Ty
Sarah/Terence
Toni/Dallas
Nick/Starr
Tina/Ken

Well, it means anything, Anthony and Stephanie seemed to have gotten along with Brooke and Marisa, so maybe it is Bill/Mark to be the next to go .... ?

We know from a photo that one of them is really being impacted by the difficulty of breathing at high altitudes. That can almost shut you down wherever you are. It happened to me on an Alp 30-odd years ago and was pretty scary. It would be difficult to overcome that if the race was otherwise close.

From one of Tony and Stephs many interviews

Reality TV World: Is there any particular team you're rooting for to win?

Anthony: Well, we got along with everybody so well that when we got eliminated we were like "God bless the team that wins and hats off to them. They deserve it if they can make it through all the way." So we didn't really have one team we were pulling for or anything so...

Stephanie: Yeah I'd say [ I'd root more] for [Mark Yturralde] and [Bill Hahler] or [Ken Greene] and Tina

Anthony: I'd like to see Marisa and Brooke get as far as possible...

Stephanie: Yeah, [Marisa] and Brooke, we loved them.

Sunrise is at 6:44AM. This area has to be hour of operation. There's no sunlight. Pick up a Detour clue at 9AM.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Detour is "Long way down" or "Short search up".

In "Long way down" teams ride bike downhill to Plaza Abaroa.

--------------------------------------------------------------
In "Short search up" teams search the Witchcraft Market for an item.

--------------------------------------------------------------
U-Turn:

No one use it because everyone knew that high altitude sickness can slow down a team. They don't have to do anything.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Pitstop: Monticulo Park

Teams get to dance with Phil and the Bolivian brass band.   :sucks

I'm not ready to see Mark & Bill go.  I don't think the oxygen mask plays a big factor in their progress through the leg.

Remember that the oxygen mask scene is on April 27th just after they land at El Alto.  Whereas the shot of Mark by the government building is in the morning of the next day.  From there, I suspect, they get the clue to go find Bolivar at El Prado.

Other teams could feel threatened by Mark & Bill and a leading team could decide to implement the U-Turn on them at Plaza Avaroa.

Oh no, that could be it for them.

This shot was taken between 9:32 and 10:05 am (assumes April 28th).

If that area is 9:32AM, .....

then this area is around 9:22AM; 10 minutes less. It's not that far from the tunnel.

Tina and Kelly are walking their bikes so this is where they start Tour de Bolivia 2008.

We can conclude the "hours of operation" is at 9AM.

Since the bike has no brake and the racers can't read map while going downhill, the route must be a straight line on the same avenue.
If they go zig zag at each intersection, they have to stop and read maps.

My guess is they start at point 1, 2, 3, or 4.

edit:

Whoever picks the market task has to take a taxi to Plaza Abaroa.
The teams that take the bike route get to save $$$.  :sucks

These preview shots make it clear that Nick & Star arrive at the Roadblock quite a bit later than Terence & Sarah.

Note that vendors have set up two tents in the background during the time between the shots.
