Chiang Mai, Thailand evidence Confirmed May 22nd
Here , here & here
*Blogger witness's 3 sets of teams at the airport in Chiang Mai
*Blogger offers more details:
**so the details that I have:
-There were three couples.  one was two shorter women.  they had black backpacks
on and on the packs were yellow stickers that had an army slogan (i.e. "you can
do it").  I remember them as wearing all black as well.  They were rather short
5'5"or less and while I don't want to sound prejudicial my two friends that I
was traveling with (who are both gay) totally thought these two women were too.
i actually never saw their faces.  i will fwd to my friends and see if they have
any info.  the second couple i think was two younger (20s/30s)guys...will have
to double check.  the third was definitely a guy and a girl (prob. dating).
they were both white.  she had longer brown/black hair and was really skinny and
wearing a little tank top.  he had a british accent b/c he's the one that said
"" i don't know what you're talking about"  THey looked to be in their early
30s.
* peach follows up with more info:
**Amazing Race Asia did pass through Chiang Mai recently, it's yet to be aired and no one locally knew about it at the time except the owner of the X-Centre where part of it took place

Hi! guy ...

We had movement on TAR13 ... so I think same to TARA 3 ...

From the Exec Producer ... they r finalising the casting now ...

http://amazing-race-asia.axn-asia.com/about/producer

 10 days ago, Michael-McKay says:

Hi folks, thanks for all the great feedback. I never cease to be impressed by the knowledge TARA fans have of the series, as well as the passion. Thank you.

TARA3 will air later in 2008 (sorry it takes so long to prepare, cast, shoot and produce).

I'd love to tell everybody who hasn't made it through that they can get on with their lives but the truth is we are still finalising the cast. Having said that, if we haven't contacted you by now I would say your chances are slim at this point.

Once again, thanks to everyone for contributing their thoughts. Regards Michael

>> I believed TARA3's filming is going to start as same timing as TARA2 - end of June ... by that time TAR13 might be overred the filming ...

As we know that Betram have put some shares on ActiveTV (TARA production) ... there is possiblity they are going to share some crews and make TARA3 more bigger ... I'm waiting for this ...

I just read and heard former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova and a friend of hers, a model (uhh) wil be representing Thailand on TAR Asia 3. Yikes. More local celebrities.    Miss Glebova a Russian born Canadian moved to Bangkok after her reign was over. She is married to ex-tennis player Paradorn Srichipan. Many Thai fans who have applied for season 3 are not amused and felt cheated at a chance for the race. Thank for delivering a casting coup Mr. McKay.

found

"In April 2008 Natalie Glebova was hand picked by AXN-ASIA, along with a friend from the modeling industry, to represent Thailand in season 3 of the Amazing Race Asia cable TV series."

Anyway, it's Wiki ....

I would not be surprised if it was true Wiki or not. Considering Michael McKay's penchant for casting local celebrities to jack up ratings it may be true. Izad of Sucks did mention for TAR2 the casting dept were interviewing celeb types and half of the racers were one way or another involved in show biz or related to or connected to a well known personality.

Nikita, you mean TARA2, TAR 2 was in 2002 not 2007/8.

Sorry askip. I was editing my comment when the battery went dead.  Yes, it was TARA2.

This news was posted by a Thai blogger on the AXN forum. Sounds like it is true.

Aside from product placement, this is what amazing race asia does best...mactor factor for casting department to the highest level.

I understand your sadness, cookie23. I didn't get a call last summer from Who Wants to be a Millionaire? after initially qualifying. In both cases there were only many tens of thousands of other applicants!

Moving these from TAR13 for speculation thanks to Mrs Shrek .....

Mrs Shrek sent me this ........
Then I was searching Flickr and saw this ......(Taken on May 20, 2008 at 12.49pm PDT)
The Flickr picture and blog dates are a match but gosh it can't be us!
So a fwiw ...

I don't know where to put this. It can't be "our race" because the dates are wrong, and Bangkok was just a transit point. Could TAR Asia have started filming yet?
"I saw the Amazing race being filmed, people eating bugs and throwing them up in the middle of the street"
travelblog

"Amazing Race roadblock on Khao San - Bangkok"

Strange indeed...dates cannot be TAR 13 but I suppose any local crews hired could have similar equiptment.

Is it possible that TARA 3 has started already? I wasn't thinking til June but oh my...

Just found another TAR reference in a blog that is so vague I probably wouldn't have bothered posting it except for the recent sighting in Bangkok...fwiw

I can see the first leg of AmazingRaceAsia (ARA) 3 being in Bangkok May 21, although it may have been preceded by other places if there are prior legs. Beijing being next is quite logical. There are 4 nonstop flights BKK PEK:

TG614 1040 1620
MS960 1300 1830
TG674 0035 0615
AC980 0120 0645

Major CONGRATS to Mrs Shrek for having the first two sightings of the TARA 3 race in action!

Let's all keep our eyes open --how fun to have another race to follow so soon!

I was searching in blogs for TAR13 stuff yesterday, and I found this woman instead who says she participated as one of those locals used in tasks. Since TAR13 has no plans of going to any asian countries except for Cambodia, I assume that this must have been for TAR Asia.

The Amazing Race! I've been working my ass off for the Amazing Race for a couple weeks and I'm glad it turned out well! Phew~Teachers loved it and I'm relived that it's over! Haha xD This is one of the tasks.. Cik Aishah and Ann Teh doing the Umbrella dance! hahaha

The problem north is that there are so many local versions of the Amazing Race that searching blogs you really have to sort out what is the real race what is the local race.
Over the past week there have been more so than usual...I wouldn't even know where to begin, lol

Singapore for example

puddin, I agree with your assessment that it is difficult to sort out the local Amazing Races from the real ARA3. I did go through each entry in your very recent Singapore blogs list. I concluded that there was some local Amazing Race, possibly as short as 2 hours in Singapore on or about May 25(yesterday) and there also was one at a camp in Malacca. However, both were over in no more than 3 days so we are not talking about ARA3. Singapore has been overused in both ARA1 and ARA2, so the chances of it being a pitstop for ARA3 were remote to start with.
