So we think back in Thailand?

Which fits the pattern...

I'm predicting the second all-female team to win the Amazing Race Asia. I have nothing to base it on.

Hmm...isn't it funny how I don't particularly ROOT for any of the TARasia f/f teams, and now there is a possibility of F/F teams  being 2 for 3 in winning?

I LOVE Ida and Tania and the way they have played the game.

It is all cuz you are the official TAR jinx, Michael...so no rooting allowed! :lol3:

Yes, this is a trend. Do not root for Ida/Tania. Root for Geoff/Tisha. Please.

Michael, how well do you do in mathematics? My system of counting F/F teams in the ARA3 stops at one. Are you saying that this team is so good that it has 4 times the probability of either Geoff/Tisha or Sam/Vince (what is necessary to make Ida/Tania's probability of winning 2/3)?

You know I am going to think that easy availability of air flights will be critical to which island or stretch of coastline was selected by Michael McKay for the final episode. I will deal with Muscat to Bangkok separately. This post will focus on the best domestic possibilities from Bangkok to selected places in southern Thailand:

Koh Chang, with its National Marine Park, has to be considered. There are 3 Bangkok Airways flights a day from Bangkok to Trat airport:

09:00 10:05 BKK TDX PG301
14:45 15:50 BKK TDX PG305
17:30 18:35 BKK TDX PD307

Another island for considerartion is Koh Samui. It's airport gets twice as many flights on a Saturday (most likely date for arrival was June 7) from Bangkok:

PG123 08:15 09:20 BKK USM
PG103 06:00 07:05 BKK USM
PG139 10:15 11:45 BKK USM
PG175 17:45 19:15 BKK USM
PG191 20:05 21:10 BKK USM
PG187 19:35 21:05 BKK USM

Also, I have not abandoned my orignal favorite, Phuket. The number of Saturday flights from Bangkok to Phuket are the same as to Koh Chang:

PG271 08:10 09:30 BKK HKT
PG 277 17:30 18:50 BKK HKT
PG924 11:45 13:05 BKK HKT

I have been moving postings between threads to get them in the correct place. Now I want to take a retrospective look at the flight possibilities from Pune to Muscat Oman:

PNQ BOM  9W102  1750 1830, connecting in Mumbai to BOM MCT  IC685    2200 2310

PNQ BLR   9W446  1340 1455, connecting in Bangalore to BLR MCT   IC977    1840 2025

PNQ BOM  9W106  1110 1140, connecting in Mumbai to BOM MCT  WY808   1730 1840

Since the hours of operation on the caves wiped out the possibility of getting the best flight (not shown) at 6am, the most probable flight taken is the last of the three above. That puts arrival in Muscat airport around 640pm.

I think that is the order they come in on the final leg according to how they put the team names in the video. G&F #1, I&T #2 and S&V #3.

probably not the promo you were hoping for peach

Now that I have seen the ep.10 video, I need to make minor adjustments to my analysis of timing in Oman to see how that affects which flight teams might get. Here it is:

before Nizwah fort is essentially irrevelant due to Hours of Operation
enter Nizwah Fort 815am
Mutrah Souq         1045am
Carpet or Count It take about 1 hour 1145am
Wadi Tanuf 2 hours 50 min. drive 235pm
Ida/Tania reach pitstop 250pm
Geoff/Tisha reach pitstop 300pm
Sam/Vince finish after 4 hour penalty 715pm

Assume a 12 hour pitstop, that releases teams to start elg 11, the Finale, at:
Ida/Tania 250am
Geoff/Tisha 300am
Sam/Vince 730am

However, there is an walk camels in the desert task that will take an unknown amount of time to get to and do it. Assume that the total of those is 1 hour.

With a minimum 2.5 hour drive back to the Muscat Airport, the earliest teams can arrive is:
Ida/Tania 620am
Geoff/Tisha 630am
Sam/Vince 1100am

They all should also be able to  EK6479 MCT DXB 1335 1440(there are also equivalent earlier flights) connecting with  TG522 DXB BKK 1755 0505+1. It is now Sunday June 8. The flights they can catch are from Bangkok on sundya are different than the ones for Saturday:

Koh Chang/Trat 09:00 10:05 BKK TDX PG301
Koh Samui PG103 0600 0705 or TG285 0745 0850 or PG123 0815 0920
Phuket TG203 0730 0850 or TG201 0750 0910 or PG271 0810 0930

EDITOR's NOTE - this was modified to incorproate information from the ep.10 video.
