Would you want to send Phil across the Pacific on a flight that gave him only 5 hours slack after an all-day flgith to be followed by 2 full days of flying? I wouldn't want to be the route creator that did not!
However, Neobie, it seems you always have a silveer lining in your cloud. What could ahve happened is that Phil indeed took your route and stopped in Buenos Aires. Then he would have been able to catch AR1182 separate from the teams(who were resting in the Santiago area) for the transSouthPacific crossing to Auckland. He would have to switch there to LAN801 with everyone else leaving 0525 arriving SYD 0705.
The reason there has to be a REST DAY somewhere, and I now think it has to be only in Auckland or in Sydney, is that the transPacific flights can easily be late by more than 30 minutes. If AR1182 arrives later than say 0515 it will be impossible to catch LAN801 and get to Sydney in time for the critical 0800 Singapore Airlines flight SYD to SIN. Or if LAN801 departs Auckland later than 0600 there will be insufficient connect time there. To compensate, you must build in a REST DAY in either Auckland or Sydney(take your pick as to which one van Munster and Doganieri chose). Remember this as a question for AR13 eliminees!

Amazing Race in Portland? Found this: http://www.wweek.com/wwire/?p=11881DASHING FOR DOLLARS: Forget next Tuesday’s primary, the real race is already underway. Although officials at the Port of Portland cannot confirm rumors, CBS-TV’s The Amazing Race 13 , which pits teams against each other in a race around the world, has touched down in Portland now through Thursday, May 15 . Who knew? Well, as first reported here, it was none other than local mens panties proprietor, Steven Lien, of UnderU4men. According to Lien, who was pushed out of his normal parking garage to make way for the camera crew on Monday morning, the show looks like it’s staging right behind Broadway’s Benson Hotel . “There are about 20 big vehicles and lots of people in nice shoes and really dark glasses,” Lien told WW. Later that day a few production peeps (alas no Phil Keoghan) who came in to his shop looking for fresh underpants confirmed Amazing’s PDX presence for Lien. A quick web search also confirms that filming for the TV show is scheduled to take place sometime in May. Let's hope they have better luck getting half and half from our baristas than the following contestant had milking a camel.

If my math's right then that would be day 21 (today) to 23. If they plan on doing an abridged season again (sigh), then that falls in line for a final location. Not to mention we pretty much lost them after Dubai, so they could've gone anywhere and done anything within 6 days (enough time for 3 legs I'd say).

I was doing the math and thinking if they did the 21 or maybe 22 days they would be back today. anyway if this is true TPTB were awful sloppy, I don't know what to think? We need to do some detective work..

Waiting for a call back confirmation but WRP is filming yesterday and today on Stark between Park and Broadway--which is right next to the Benson Hotel...

I see these of interest for international west to east nonstop flights: Toronto Frankfurt Amsterdam Portland has long been on my lists of places where Amazing Races should be doing the Finale, but it never has previously made the cut. I think it is overdue and so this is pretty likely to be the real thing even though it is much quicker than I woukld have guessed.
