Did I imagine it or did the ski photos disappear? Security issue? Dubai too close to war zone?

to RFF lucky 13!

They were from TAR Asia so not needed here... We wouldn't want to confuse the masses!

Glad you are here and noticing though!

Thanks mswood!

I'm thinking that the teams were hung up there by an Hours of Op set for 9 am.  Don't tell Apskip but the closest preceding flight out of Sao Paulo was at 7:35 am.  And it's 2 hours 20 odd minutes long.  That dumps them too late for this shot.

So it looks like they get to Salvador on earlier flights.  Like 10:30 pm or 4:10 am.  And they have to wait at the elevator.

Updates on our life in Bolivia (La Paz )

ok, fun tidbits now! The day we took possession of our apartment we were crossing the park in front of our building and noticed a lot of people and some really weird all wood bicycles. I noticed a lot of the people around them looked like the rich gortex-wearing tourist we see and/or the Discovery Channel crew that worked with us last year. Then I noticed it: a yellow signed that said "U-Turn" with a yellow and red flag on it... It was The Amazing Race!!!!! (It's a fun reality show, google it if you don't know what it is) I was sooooooo excited! I was torn between staying there until contestants showed up or going into our apartment. Given Wes' lack of enthusiasm I decided to go back home. But hey, next Amazing Race they will be showing our building and our park!

Heres a view from their apartment fwiw

Words cannot desribe how amazing you are Puddin!!!

Let me add a line from the blog (what you said about April 25th)

Quote
As some of you now know, we found ourselves an apartment in La Paz - moving in tuesday.

So they moved in on April 22nd.   Could they have witnessed the setting up of the task?  Too bad they did not catch racers.

Wait, I get it.  She's talking in the future.  As in, they will be moving in on Tuesday[./i]

So, since it was posted on the 25th, that means the Tuesday she is talking about is Tuesday the 29th.

That's it for now! I will post pictures once we've moved in and made the place look a little more homelike.

Wow that is a tight schedule! 4/29 in La Paz Bolvia, 4/30 spotted in Santiago Chile airport, no wonder they were exhausted and dirty at the airport, they were running hard.

The 16 story building is located opposite (for a 16 story building it's opposite)

El Monticulo aka Subida Monticulo  and inside is this Neptuno en el Monticulo

Let's have Phil (spotted in Santa Cruz VVI midday on the 29th) on his way to La Paz.  He needs to get there to administer his duties at the Mat.

The U-turn indicates that the pit stop is not far away in either time or space.

Nice landmarks Chateau, something we might see in a introflash

Phil would not have had much time to do his standups

from the blog
*Our flight was supposed to be at 1045.
*we saw Phil Keoghan (of Amazing Race fame) waiting for a plane too
*We finally took off at 1245, during a gap in the storm, and landed in BA at 1715

more trivia
airport at la paz. highest airport in the world. 13,000 feet. the airplanes need additional runway to take off and land because of the thin air. also need special tires because they endure lots of stress on landing airport at la paz. "El Alto"

Phil can do stand up before or after teams come through.  He can even do them elsewhere and pretend he is where the location is.  He did this with the Shoe Shine Roadblock in Season 7.  They filmed him in Cuzco while the task was down in Arequipa.

It looks really tight though.  OToH I see a huge amount of time for the Brazilian interior.  Maybe two legs between Salvador de Bahia and Bolivia?

Well, CHATEAU, it should not surprise you to find out that once again I disagree with your thinking. I believe that a sighting of Phil midday on APril 29 at VVI was making the connection between either of the 2 nonstop flights from LPB into VVI that mornign and LA967 departing from VVI at 1205 to SCL with stop in Iquique. If it is to LPB, then Phil could not do a mat in LaPaz, turn around, and get a flight(actually the same one on April 30) that will arrive SCL prior to 1725 on 4/30.

So our lady must have moved into her 16th floor La Paz apartment on Monday the 28th.

She was not specific about the date.  That works for me.

Well, technically there isn't anything preventing Phil from taking the 30th night flight out of Santiago, along with the rest of the teams. It's happened before quite a few times, especially when flights are few and far between, like they are here between Santiago and Auckland.

A pointless piece of information that belongs in the air schedules thread, but since you guys brought it up here... There is indeed a set of flights that can get Phil to Santiago before 1725 on the 30th:

5L 210 from La Paz to Santa Cruz: 0830 to 0930
5L 210 from Santa Cruz to Buenos Aires: 1045 to 1430
AC 93 from Buenos Aires to Santiago: 1600 to 1720

Hey, I did say "pointless" right?

But come to think of it, these could explain Justin's "two waves" of racers coming into Santiago Airport!
