Right, peach had the info yesterday but did not think that show should be ruined by having media and the mass tripping over the racers running to the finish line because of her love for the race, its not always about the spoiling.

Kudos to you pdxskiier for your tenacity to snoop out the race.  I am truly envious of what you got to do today.  I hope you can write it up so we can roll around in the details!

It looks like WRP did not take heed the warning that Peach gave them to read up on what we knew.  They could have tried a little more stealth

Sorry, but it was sent to me privately, and I need to be sure it is okay to share first.

Sometimes it sucks to have morals....

Tomorrow is another day!  And I love y'all too!

Okay guys, I AM able to share some more info w/ you!

With many thanks to our incredible  Portland photographer who has been hard at work on our behalf!!

Quote
I'm pleased to report that I saw a male-male team in downtown Portland
this evening (peach: that would be 5/14) at about 6:00 local time. A cameraman and a sound man
were following them.

I saw them head west along Alder, then south on 10th, then east on
Morrison. They asked for directions at the food carts that occupy the
parking lot north of Alder, and they looked at a metal map kiosk at
the corner of 10th and Morrison.

They looked to be mid to late 20s or even maybe early 30s. Both were
wearing khaki trousers; the taller one was slightly heavyset and had
reddish curly hair and was wearing a baseball cap and a blue T-shirt.
The other had blonde to sandy blonde hair and no hat. Both had
backpacks.

What struck me, though, was how slowly they were moving compared to my
expections. They certainly were not running. I don't know if this
means they are a decoy, or that they are real but exhausted, or that
they are real and in last place, or what.

I often buy magazines at a store on 9th & Alder, so I asked the
cashier there if I knew anything about TAR in Portland. He said, "Oh,
is that what that was?" I said, "Is that what WHAT was?" He said he
had seen a male  and a female plus two-man crew also proceeding along
Alder. I asked him when that was. He said about two hours previously,
which puts it at around 4:00 p.m. I asked him if he recalled any other
details; he said he did not, except that the girl was pretty. :-/

I did not have a camera with me, but where they were is VERY central
location; and while Portland is considerably less densely occupied
than, say, LA or even Denver, I will be very surprised if no one here
managed to take a reasonable picture of at least one of the teams.

I asked our source if these guys could maybe be who he saw?

And so sadly, since we don't even know their names yet (that seems so wrong somehow!), he replied:

Quote
Oooh! Yes, I do think so! Their relative heights and hair colors match!

Sad because this screams decoy to me...and interestingly, I believe it may be decoy being run AFTER the actual finale MAT arrival...

More later on...

Cool!  Pittock Mansion is a great site for the finale, and the Gorge is perfect for physical tasks.  Glad Portland finally made the Race.

You can still use your detective skills and help us out here quetranza , we have the sighting of teams but not what they were wearing or clearer descriptions, namely the F/F & M/F seen running around the donut place, so maybe you can ask locals if they recall while its still fresh in their memories?

Pictures, pictures, pictures, who had the pictures?  With just about every living soul carrying a cell phone with a camera built in, why not any pictures that are half-way visable?  More than we have, I mean.  I may be the only living being on this planet without a cell phone, but I carry my trusty D80 Nikon with me just about everywhere (except I'm never there when the TAR teams are there)

Kudos to the Portland team! (Though I feel so "at the bottom of the totem pole" when it comes to breaking spoiler news...)

Apskip, would your brother-in-law know when in the "late evening" did the teams come in? If not a TBC, it could also have been a really short leg, one that took until maybe lunchtime racing around Auckland?

And... The Spoiler Yellow Line's longer than any other season of spoiling we've been through! We've got hold of these racers for all but, four legs I believe?

OK.  We've got the beginning city but not the actual location.  And we have the final city AND final location.  We have most of the other spots; not the tasks yet, but the locations (we think)

The ONE big GAP now lies between New Delhi and Frankfurt for the period May 6 to May 12 with just a sighting at Dubai airport which may only have been a connection to somewhere else.

So anybody have any inside scoop of where our teams disappeared to?

I don't own a cell phone and although I do own a camera I rarely use it. It slows you down too much when you are traveling.  There are other on the planet, maybe only about 5.5 billion of them who do not own cell phones.

I've been following all your detective work with a certain amount of awe at just how many obscure clues you've been able to find and piece together. Great work!

My only regret is not checking in for a few days and then discovering that I missed all the excitement about the final leg in Portland. I'm only a couple of hours away and it might have been worth the trip had I known!

I thought it might be worth checking out the Portland media to see if there were any nuggets of news that hadn't been reported here. The Portland Oregonian had a blog entry at http://www.oregonlive.com/movies/index.ssf/2008/05/amazing_race_how_sweet_the_sou.html. It really didn't say much that hadn't been mentioned here, but I thought you'd like this quote:

Quote
* We totally suck as reporters compared to these folks (link to RFF), who manage to track the movements of the show AROUND THE WORLD.

They also included a link to a story at the Willamette Weekly (already mentioned here I think) http://wweek.com/wwire/?p=11881 which was slightly more fruitful. Again it was mostly a rehash of RFF, but the replies from the public did have this comment:

Quote
Jason  writes on May 15th, 2008 3:11am

There was a clue box right in front of VooDoo donuts, I was there today. When nobody was close to coming, the producers would cover the box with a trash bag but when people were nearby, they would uncover the box and shoo anyone away that was standing near it. It was probably one of the last clues if the Pittock Mansion was the last stop.

Anyway, thanks for all your work, It's been fun following it. I guess I'm hooked now.

The travel time from Siem Rep to the entrance to Ankgor Wat is I believe less than 1 hour. That means they could have been there by about 1800. Or maybe some tasks were in the area but not at Angkor Wat. I don't know if Angkor Wat is open after 1800 but I'm sure somebody can check this before I can get to it.

Travel time to Angkor Temple complex is 10 15mins from Siem Reap. The Temple complex closes at 18:00

Looks as though Phil may have been speaking somewhere near Toronto on 5/15--have asked for clarification.

Not that we needed it , but it provides additional confirmation of the race ending on 5/14 if this is correct.

ETA: after clarifying the above, turns out this was NOT on 515/08:

It was not 5/15/08. In fact, it was more than a year ago (5/10/07)...and the message has stuck with me!
I heard Phil speak in London, Ontario.
