I have a few questions for anyone involved in production/casting (georgia peach?). I am new and have searched but not found much other than links to videos and articles. Those are great, but just looking for a little personal advice.
If you do get cast on the show, what can you tell your boss? I think I could get the time off, but hate to lie to him.
I am part of a married couple. I am a doctor who enjoys pole dancing and triathlons, my husband is a retired army officer,semi-pro poker player and we are both pretty short and fit. We think we are pretty interesting, but when we sit and look at the camera we kind of clam up. We are trying to come up with interesting ways to demonstrate how we relate to one another, in 3 minutes, without being too scripted...

Thanks!

Welcome to RFF, postratton! :bigwelcome

First, let me just say that I am NOT affiliated in any way with CBS, WRP, or casting. (and never have been)

But I am always glad to help in any way I can!

I wouldn't worry to much about your boss, many have had to be asked to sign NDA's.

But your video is crucial...one of the things casting looks for IS people who are comfortable in front of a camera. Because you will be being filmed for 21+ days, there is no time for a learning curve, so you need to be able to communicate well on camera. So doing whatever it takes to get a good video is important!

I'll send you a message, okay?

Thanks GP! I read some of your posts and figured out that you weren't actually affiliated with the show... sorry! Yes I look forward to your message.

She is PRODUCTION, casting. NOT an applicant.

There is a new casting call listed on http://www.theamazingracecasting.com/opencastingcalls

It actually seems really cool! There are challenges that you must complete in order to earn a stamp in your passport. You must have all 4 stamps in your passport before you can audition!

December 5th in the Boston area.

Also, on a different note, what does everyone think about emailing Erika Landin versus applying online, and/or doing both?

It just strikes me to be odd that she wants people to email her, instead of just directing them to the online app. ???

If I were applying, I would email her and fill out the online application. I would do anything to get my name heard more often.
What a cool casting call! Wish I were there!

Lynne Spillman on casting:

 http://k003.kiwi6.com/hotlink/f7mjc7b2pe/Survivor_Oz_-_Lynne_Spillman_Interview.mp3

via Survivor OZ

When it comes to the person who has been more responsible for putting each player you have ever seen on Survivor, there is nobody else you need to look for than Lynne Spillman. A casting director for close to 20 years, Lynne has been involved in the casting of every single contestant from the show and has seen the show develop from piles of VHS tapes on her desk right through to the modern days of paperless applications. And in a rare interview, Lynne reveals her thoughts on the cast of the new season of Worlds Apart and why they might just be the closest cast ever assembled, and going over details from which player was recruited twice and just how close we are to an all winners season.

Lynne is heavily involved in the world of casting for CBS and alongside Survivor she also is the casting director for The Amazing Race. This experience has seen her cast close to 1000 people on reality TV, and her experience is second to none.

In our chat with Lynne, she talks about the cast for the upcoming Worlds Apart, why she gets emotional over the earlier seasons, the process of casting for a ‘twist’, how close season 30 was to being all returning players, which legendary player she fought hard for to be on the show who Mark Burnett didn’t want on initially, why she is the worst person to go anywhere with in public, which season has her favourite cast of all time, whether The Amazing Race or Survivor is harder to cast for, which contestant she recruited twice before his season, which player she wants to return the most, the truth behind Amber returning for All-Stars instead of Elisabeth and giving advice on becoming a casting agent and cross over casting between The Amazing Race and Survivor.
