Ronald & Christina Father/Daughter Ronald: Tacoma, WA 58, VP of Sales Christina, Washington, DC 26, Policy Analyst Ronald & Christina are a father/daughter Team who are competing in the Race to make up for lost time. Since Ronald was constantly traveling for work throughout much of his daughter's formative years, Christina hopes the Race will allow her father--a self-proclaimed workaholic--to stop and smell the roses and provide them with some meaningful time together. Ronald, a first-generation immigrant and eldest of five, works as a Vice President of sales for a paper packaging company. His proudest achievements are his thirty-one years of marriage and raising two independent daughters. Christina is Ronald's youngest daughter and holds degrees from both Duke and Princeton. She once served in the State Department and often wishes her Teammate could be as diplomatic as she. Neither are strangers to the unpredictability of international travel as they have both lived and worked abroad. Ronald describes himself as inquisitive and open-minded, while Christina describes herself as loyal and adventurous. This father/daughter duo is excited to grow closer, make friends across continents and create Race history by being the first father/daughter Team to claim the $1 million prize.

I hope this team does well. We enjoyed watching them race and the kids and I loved the dad's happy dance at the pitstop. I am also cheering them on as they are from the Pacific Northwest and I am just north of them.

Ronald, please settle down!! The way you nagged your daughter last nite made me very sad. Just relax and be patient so you can help build a good repetoire and relationship after being separated so many years. Good luck with all that and with the Race!

Help, please. The symbol on the right is "father." I thought the one on the left might be "who," but no. It might, if it's read right►left, be Christina's Chinese name. I'm going blind searching character charts. Any ideas? [attachment deleted by admin]

I asked my dad who can read the characters. He said it literally means, "Tiger Father" so it's probably Christina's name in Chinese. When I typed "Tiger Father" into a translation website, I got the following two characters, so he's right. 虎父

I'm going blind searching character charts. Any ideas? Hi everyone.... yes Peaches I can read Chinese. Of course I can help. Okay so the character on the left means 'Tiger' the one on the right is indeed 'Father'.... So when put together it means Tiger Father.... literally.... ;-))

What you'd expect: "Tiger daughter." Maybe Tiger is pronounced "Hsu," or maybe Tiger just means...Tiger. [attachment deleted by admin]

I'm rooting for the Goths, by Goth, but...I was happy Ron & Christina came in first. Good for them. Mostly, I'm happy their relationship seems to be improving and her old man is learning to respect her and not think he must always be -ing all the time!!

What you'd expect: "Tiger daughter." Maybe Tiger is pronounced "Hsu," or maybe Tiger just means...Tiger. Slowhatch, I can give you some help here. Actually the meaning of the phrase comes from a Chinese old saying "虎父無犬子", literally means "the offspring of a tiger is not a dog", which means the offspring of a tiger will be as strong as its parent (father). To apply, it means that a strong father will not have a weak child! therefore, you can see Ronald wearing the shirt with "虎父" which means "tiger father", while Christina wearing the shirt with "虎女" which means "tiger dauthger". Hope it helps~

With the Goths out, I guess I'll have to shift my support to Christina. I don't recall a female racer ever carrying her worthless male partner this far in a Race. So far, Ron has just been a 175 pound millstone around Christina's neck. I know this is not a good reason for liking a team, but what can I do. Of course, this now means that they'll lose. I haven't had a favorite team win since Chip and Kim in Race 5.
