I've got someone in the Mumbai area later this week--I'll send him over to check it out!!

Looks really really good puddin!

Months looking everywhere and it may have been there all along...  :groan:

I can only say what I have before. I have believed that the tasks will be close to Delhi or close to Mumbai because the timing of the race cannot afford to go very far distant from those major airport hubs for arriving from a European hub and leaving for Osaka (or maybe Taipei).

:jumpy:  Yay!  puddin got it.....finally!      You had 99.9% of it, but just had to wrap it up.  IMHO, the Dariya Mahal would make for a good pit stop (or TBC point).   OK, on to the next one. :cmas26

It has fame from a book:

The Last Song of Dusk

By Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi

Quote
They live in Dariya Mahal, an old house where an Englishman died waiting for his princely Indian lover to leave his wife and family and come to him. The Englishman left behind "a formidable stack of love letters written and never posted, tied with jute, smelling of lavender and sadness." Now the house tends to its sadness and waits for someone to live in it who can understand its story of heartbreak and loss.

I'll show you why I suspected Mumbai  :cmas19

I was searching AOL videos as always and missed this by an hour, I think CBS put it up by mistake, yeah I never got to view it, and then quickly revised it.
I think what it was, was a Phil video Diary, i took screencaps incase they took it down.

AOL link (video won't play  :cmas3)

You get the picture  :cmas27~

Great job Puddin and Boingo!  :cmas9  I'm running into more than one dariya mahal in my searches; according to GE, the versova one is on Jai Prakash road (or JP Road). Anything you find that says "Nepeansea road" is way down at the tip of Mumbai.

Wikimapia description and comments about Dariya Mahal:

Famous bungalow with access to beach and excellent lawns. Parsi owner rents out the lawns and rooms in the bungalow for private parties.

Well, as someone with familial ties to "Daria Mahal," I can assure you that the owners are not Parsi, they are Gujarati. The bungalow was built by my great grandfather Shri Maneklal Chinai. This, if you will, is the "House of Chinai." This property has appeared in many Bollywood films.

Yes, we, at Dabur, had shot an ad film here - Vatika Shampoo, with Rani Mukherjee. Had a great time - its a beautiful building with an amazing view on the west and the sea splashes noisily at high tide

Daria Mahal is a beautiful place, with kind and extremely hospitable owners. In fact, one of the owners introduced my parents to each other, in Ohio, of all places, more than 50 years ago. I find the people of Mumbai to be peaceful, hospitable and kind

The Bollywood films reference may be a way they link this place to those posters we see being plastered up in the previews.   :cmas16

Finally! Puddin--you deserve this Christmas present for all the countless hours you looked for this!   :jumpy:  :xmas146

Great job to Boingo and Chateau too!  :cmas9

Okay--I'll email my contact and see if he can get over there and do some snooping around before the next show--any ideas about what--besides filming--he should ask for??

hubby who's family is from Gujarat, said that yogi could even be there.

Gujarat is just north of Mumbai, so easy to get to.
