CBS is singing the blues over “Viva Laughlin,” which has been officially canceled after just two episodes.
Emmy winner “The Amazing Race” will take “Laughlin’s” place in the Sunday 8 p.m. slot - where the reality show resided last year - effective Nov. 4. A repeat “CSI” will run in the time period next week.

The Nov. 4 date is not just as close as possible to the cancellation of Viva Laughlin. It is also the beginning of Sweeps Month for CBS and all the networks. Any later start could have pushed CBS into a split of sweeps for AR12 between November and February, assuming that the season will be 13 weeks or less.

The return of TAR means November 4 which is Week 9 of the NFL season.

Here are the doubleheader weeks for CBS as we will have potential overruns of football going into the Amazing Race.

November 4
November 25
December 9
December 23
December 30

Viva La Amazing Race

I hope CBEss puts some effort into promotion. Less than two weeks is mightly short time to effectively promote a show - even if it is an Emmy-winning return. TVGuide, for instance, is already at the printers for that week and won't carry news of the start of TAR12.

The one down turn, and it could be a bad omen is that Christmas week before and after Christmas is one of the slowest, poorest watched times for network TV. Time period is usually filled with repeats and reruns of old Christmas favorites.

Second down turn: once again I will be missing eps 6 and 7 (December 9 and 16) as I explore the castles of Germany and Austria looking for a suitable one in which to chase my favorite maiden

And if it does run only 11 eps, then the grand finale will be over my 80th Birthday weekend - let the celebration begin

Due to the strong possability of a football overrun, I wouldn't be surprised if it was 15-30 minutes late starting. But we wont know until the afternoon of the 4th.

hi everyone.

I'm looking forward to rapid spoilage by the RFF gang.

Wanted to share one concern regarding ratings. First week out of the shoot (11/4) TAR will be up against Sun. Night Football Cowboys / Eagles. I don't give a rat about pro football (& hate the Cowboys).....but they draw.....lots of viewers.

Tell everyone to lower expectations the first week. (The second week is a much weaker game, Seahawks/Chargers, I think).

Keep up the good work, guys! & Here's to TAR IN 10 DAYS!!!!

Ken, you already have TAR, specifically the Amazing Race Asia 2 Introduction of Teams show has already happened in AsiaPacific. If you want more, you won't get it until TAR12 starts on Monday night on AXN from what I understand.
