Izad, would these two men next to D/K be one of your team?
Nope. I don't think they're part of the camera crew either. and I think this might be romeo, but I can't tell for sure (and yes, the guy wearing black and sunglasses does look like the same guy from the blog photo

Thanks Hound!! I think the person yelling Go Charla came from the the area where the red arrow is. I think it was the guy in the tan shirt and black pants but I'm not entirely sure.

See if this helps with the timeline, thanks to Romeo's post at sucksRomeo2020 (4/9/07 2:07 am) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From what I overheard, at first Malaysia supposed to be NEL. So think about Uchenna and Joyce helped by NEL for the second time. But I guess, because they were so lagging behind they decided to eliminate them. So next episode would be NEL, I would expect that. Romeo2020 (4/9/07 5:56 am) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I guess sometimes they have to change it. Like another case of "12 hours mandatory rest period". They reached the pitstop in KL on Sunday. But they left to another destination (HK or Macau Im not sure) only on Tuesday. So its not 12 hours anymore. Im sure after editing they will tell that it is 12 hours.

Having flown throuhg Frankfurt a few times, Uchenna and Joyce's took a HUGE risk with that hour connection. The Frankfurt airport is huge and often times for international flights the terminal you arrive and leave in are on opposite sides of the airport. Plus you have to go through security lines a couple of times which also includes the passport authorities.
If they had not been in economy and maybe in business class or first class it may not have been a problem though. My last flight through Frankfurt was on my way back from Berlin last May and my flight was late. Fortunately for me, I was on a business trip and flying in business class so when I stepped out of the gate in Frankfurt, there was an employee of Lufthansa waiting for me to escort me to through the aiport. She actually put me on a shuttle on the tarmac, drove me across the airport and walked me passed the line at the passport control gate and through to the next security line to have my carry on x-rayed and then I was on to my gate to board the plane. That was my saving grace on that trip.
Worst airport i've been to that i would NEVER connect through is DC, frankfurt is close behind. Ever try connecting through CDG in Paris? Bummer to beat all bummers

Last night they did not tell us arrival times at the castle or that they left x hours later They arrived late at night and left in the dark as well, so that made me think it was a 24-hour pitstop. It struck me 'cause it was different than what I'm used to seeing.

This Hua Airport in GuangZhou. They cancelled our prebooked AND preconfirmed tickets which involved us (sister and mum) running around for about 3 hours (TAR STYLE BABY!) to try and make the flight by doing nearly everything to get back to Australia. It was terrible but a good experience when you look back Also, I think Izad wrote on his blog (which I have been following religiously for nearly 2 years) that the girl in the red was his friend (Kim?). Anyway, when my mum and I were watching this episode on my comp, I said OMG THAT'S IZAD! and she looked at me like I had a case of the rabies. I really hope hope hope he makes it to TAR:ASIA2! GO IZAD!

Could we have a blog link please? Did you guys in Asia see this today?? Sounds like fun-- IZAD?? Amazing Race-style competition using digital devices kicks off in S'pore By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 13 April 2007 1741 hrs SINGAPORE: If you are fit and love gadgets, a brand new race in Singapore might just be something up your alley. The competition format is based on the popular reality TV series, Amazing Race. Besides a good knowledge of the country, contestants also need to be tech-savy. Each team will have to use a cellphone and multimedia computer by Nokia, which is organising the race. Participants need to solve clues across the island before they can get to the finish line. In the process, participants must intelligently use Wi-Fi hotspots and the 3G network all over Singapore. About 30 teams are expected to compete in the day-long race which will be held on 26 May. This will be followed by similar races in six other Asian countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, India and the Philippines. Those who are interested to register can do so on this website, http://www.wirelessadventure.com.sg.

Izad's blog, which is a very nice read, and helped us figure out that Pieskowa Skala was a race location.

Greetings all. Has anyone been able to determine definitively -- from a racer at TARCon or similar source -- whether Eric/Danielle and Charla/Mirna got a penalty for taking taxis during the Detour on this leg? Or has Chateau solved this mystery through sun angle analysis of the arrival times? [/pet peeve]

How great to FINALLY see you over here! Happy to be here and am always very impressed by the sleuthing at RFF -- but for better or worse I try to stay unspoiled until the eps air so by the time I'm starting to research things y'all have figured it all out already. Besides, somebody has to keep the timeline torch from burning out at TWoP. On the penalty point, maybe that charlaandmirna site is another option for getting an answer -- although I'm not sure Mirna would answer a question that reflected negatively on her. Or maybe she'll come up with some rationale about how editors MADE HER take a taxi by, um . . . withholding cookies?

strategery, if the timeline torch burns out at TwoP's or even if it doesn't...you all are more than welcomed here and there is another Forum that was created for non-spoilers below The Amazing Race All Stars General Chit Chat that can be used for the future if you don't want to venture into the spoiler forum :yaya:.

but for better or worse I try to stay unspoiled until the eps air I so USED to be there! But that's no fun--come on over to the dark side! We would seriously love to have your skills join us over here! I'll add the question in the ask Mirna thread if you want... But I think we may have better luck asking Eric! I'm just not entirely sure how much the racers are contractually able to say yet...

Thanks for making me feel so welcome, georgiapeach and puddin. And whoever it was that got me into the TAR Detectives group, I feel very honored. But that's no fun--come on over to the dark side! I thought I had detected a disturbance in the force. I'll add the question in the ask Mirna thread if you want... Maybe I should take you up on that. 99% chance she doesn't know me from Adam, but if she has been checking TWoP, well . . . I haven't been kind. Thanks again, georgiapeach. And it looks like we have a pretty good chance of getting an answer from Mirna (maybe not a straight answer but probably an entertaining one).

Your reputation precedes you! Okay, I just added the question over there--hopefully I asked it right? It was between the detour and the roadblock, right?

Question answered--wow she's quick! link As for a penalty in Malaysia. I also thought it was odd the way the edit showed Phil read the clue. (But, I wouldn't put to much weight on the way things we chopped together this season.) I recall the clue saying walk to the Batik challenge, as that was less than 1/4 mile away from the last clue. The cookie challenge was approximately 10 minutes away by car, so I really don't think production would have waited around for everyone to walk for over 1 hour to get there.
As for me and Charla, we took a taxi to the Cookie challenge, when that failed (2 1/2 hrs later ), I read the clue to do the Batik, and we took the taxi right back to the location where we got our last clue, from there we walked the aprox. 1/4 mile to do the Batik challenge. In that event, a penalty could not be assess b/c we completed the Detour from the beginning point. (By the way, if you change Detours, you do not have to go back to the beginning pt per the rules, we just did that to be sure we completed the walk and avoid any penalty). I know this was ok, b/c one of the main prodcuers asked us what we decided to do as we left the Cookies and I explained my reasoning and he nodded ok.
As for E & D I don't know what they did. But I'm pretty sure you did not have to walk to the location if you choose the cookie detour. I know they did not have any penalty assessed.
Finally, in the end who cares, Uchenna and Joyce were about 7 to 8 hours behind all of us, so it didn't really matter.

Excellent! Thank you so much, georgiapeach -- you rock. And with all the scoop she's providing, I might even have to rethink my attitude toward Mirna. . . . OK, maybe not. As for her answer, that's certainly different from what we heard on the show and on the (not-so-reliable) CBS web site ( here). That says it was less than a mile from the clue box (near Kampung Baru Mosque) to each Detour location -- "one third of a mile on foot to Dewan Lama" for Artistic Expression, "on foot half a mile to Chow Kit Bomba" for Cookie Confection. Not sure about Dewan Lama yet (though Mirna says that one was close; I think Lama just means Road). But this map of KL shows a Kg Baru subway stop in cell C5, and Chow Kit is not far away -- about 1/2 KM west. So maybe that's not really where the cookie stand was??

Without rereading the whole thread I thought that thanks to Izad and Chateau we knew where those tasks were but I'll have to look again unless one of them remembers... See what you've been missing? We'll "spoil" you yet!

I thought that thanks to Izad and Chateau we knew where those tasks were Like I said before, you folks have this all figured out before I even get started. But maybe Izad or Romeo can pin-point exactly where the Detour tasks were staged and help us figure out whether Cookie Confection was father away than it was described (10 minute cab ride vice 10 minute walk).
