How often do they do these?  I thought the celebrity one just finished.

They have two seasons a year.  The winter version is a 30 day Celebrity version.  This year's summer version will have normal housemates try to last 94 days (the longest season in BBuk history).

Okay... before I jump into this...
How many episodes air per week, and how long are the episodes?

BB is a HUGE time sink, which is what scares me from jumping in.

Also, where did you hear that it was starting on May 30th?  The official website still offers no date.

You my be alarmed with my answers...just to warn you.

There is an episode every night, 7 days a week.  Each regular episode lasts an hour (44mins if you download it through torrents).  Evictions last the same time length too, but sometimes they'll be longer if it's a twist or seomthing.  It's a lot of commitment.

I know that the UK can be cool in the summer - but don't they get out at all?

I'd like to check it out, but that's an insane commitment.

Any citizen of the UK that watches Big Brother - not the residents of the Big Brother house.

The show airs at 8 or 9PM in Britian (which is about 3 or 4PM EST time), so people in the UK do have lives, lol.  They do have live feeds for the show too, but it's only available for UK citizens.

I can confirm this, I'm so looking forward to this summer.
Though I do agree, there is a big commitment to watching this show. I think they should have al the shows availiable like normal, then once a week have maybe a two hour recap for those that don't want to watch every show during the week.

A two hour recap would work well for me.  Most of the stuff they have is filler.  It's tough to watch it 7 days a week for three months.

Like your new avatar. I'll have to find a new one for a while. With luck, my internet will be up at home tonight.I finally got my replacement driver CD at work today so I'll be installing that tonight.

Oh, another reality show to watch overseas might be Britains Got Talent. I'm not sure if that's started yet, but it should be soon. I'll have to check into that and get back to you if anyone is interested.

America's Got Talent was somewhat of a train wreck - which made it an embarrassingly fun show to watch.

'Big Brother' unveils all-new eye logo

Big Brother producers have unveiled a fresh, multicolour version of the show's famous eye logo ahead of next month's new series.

It is a big change from the usual icon which is often just used in black and white. The new eye, full of primary colours in the style of the old television test card, will appear before Big Brother 8, due to begin on June 1.

Daniel Eatock, who designed it, told the Daily Mirror he was asked to "embrace all colours within the spectrum, opposites, complimentaries and all shades in-between".

A source told the paper: "The logo is colourful and vibrant with different elements, and that will apply to this new series of BB." He said it was part of a number of changes designed to "bring the fun factor back".

The report also suggests the new house will boast a "caravan of love" hideaway in the garden, a "secret garden" behind a hidden door and see housemates split into "Heaven and Hell" groups.

Bosses planning 'Big Brother' wedding?

Producers are planning for two housemates to get married inside the Big Brother house, a report has claimed.

The Daily Star says legalities are being checked ahead of the eighth series, beginning on June 1, for either a straight or gay partnership.

A source said it would add interest to the show. He explained: "They’ve had a pretend marriage before for a task but never the real thing. You can bet a few of them will be tempted.

"They want to have it in the house, but if that’s not possible the lucky couple will be blindfolded and whisked to a secret location.

"Even designs for wedding dresses have been drawn up. The show wants them on the skimpy side to make sure it’s a day to remember.

"Of course, if two lads are saying 'I do' the dress will stay on the hanger. But the lads will be offered the chance to wear kilts instead."

Yes, just like Unan1mous. Which, the brits have their own version as well.

As for Britains Got Talent, I guess it's going to be airing this summer.

In BBUK news:
Big Brother Eight: Bringing the House Down

Big Brother 2007 LogoBig Brother bosses have planned an explosive finale to this years Big Brother series. Minutes after presenter, Davina McCall reveals the winer, producers have been told that they have to blow the house up. A source said: “The house has got to go and what better way to end the show than to have the place blown up or bring in a digger to demolish it.” The source also revealed that the housemates will have only 48 hours to settle into the house before Big Brother springs their first surprise. The insider told The Daily Star: “It’s set to be a long hot summer of shocks, surprises and twists. Nothing’s been set in stone yet. “But whatever they’ve got up their sleeve, it’s gonna be explosive.”
When all is said and done, there is nothing more to say.

I can't wait for the twists!   :jumpy:
--------
Guinea pig housemate suffers panic attack

A woman who appeared in a Big Brother 8 test-run last week asked to leave the house after just a few hours.

The guinea pig housemate, who was one of a number of stand-by contestants put into the house, suffered a panic attack and told producers that she couldn't stay.

An insider told the Daily Star Sunday: "She clearly didn't like the experience of being locked up in the house. It seemed to get to her - it's a good job she's not been chosen for the final line-up.

"It doesn't bode well for anyone who does end up in there - it must be terrifying."

Big Brother 8 contestants will be forced to take a bath in the living room, according to a report today.

Producers have introduced a confusing house design; moving the bath into the living area, the oven into the bedroom and shifting the fridge to the garden. Meanwhile, the housemates' swimming pool has been extended so that it is partly indoors.

A show source told the Sunday Mirror: "Big Brother will be more shocking and nasty than ever. The choice for the contestants will be simple. If they want a bath, it is in the lounge or not at all. The show's bosses hope it will create passion and lots of sexy scenes."

Hi Guys...!!

Thought I'd check in and let you know I will be watching the live opening night show next Friday... and then I'll decide whether or not I'll be watching the whole series this year!

(I say every year I'm not going to watch it and then I do...!)

Do we have a start date for BBUSA yet?

I hope the twisted house plan will cause clean confilct in the house.  Plus, a bath in the living room!  That'll be interesting to watch.

What does everyone think of the new eye?  Throughout the BBuk forums online, there have been mixed emotions towards it.  Personally, I love it.  Especially since the eye is shaped like a keyhole.

Hello! I'm watching...

I must admit the idea of an all female house was pretty off putting to start with but the inevitable catfights are starting to brew so it could be fun.

Amusing bit yesterday where Ziggy spent about 9 hours having dinner with each of the "lay-deez" in turn!

Who do we think he'll nominate? My money's on Charlie and possibly Nicky...

That was exactly what I was thinking.  Charlie and Nicky.  I still need to go to a BBUK fansite to see how he really did nominate.

And spending nine hours for eleven dinner dates!  I wonder how long it took him to get each meal.  I would have liked to see his date with Carole.  He talked about it with another girl (I forget), and it sounded like it was a fun date.

Off to find out who he nominated!

I honestly think under different circumstances this wouldn't have been such a big deal (especially in the context, given the fact they were doing some kind of gangster hip-hop type thing) but in the climate following Celeb BB I guess C4 didn't feel they had a choice.

By the way, I think Charley may have milked it somewhat to see if she could get Emily out...

I read the transcript, and you're right.  It does seem like Charley did it to get Emily out.  A normal person would have just said, "You said WHAT?!  Dlon't say it again." and then conversation over.

Charley is a mean manipulative character in the house and I am waiting impatiently for her eviction.  I've never hated a houseguest (in BBUK) this passionately before.

C4 had no choice, even if Charley tried to milk it out on purpose or not.  That word is something harsher to say - more than the F word.  In all, I'm disappointed with Emily.  I know she was joking around, but we all heard about Imus, how he was trying to get a laugh.  It's not worth it.

I believe you're 15 days behind.  Tonight will be Day16.  Two people have left (not evicted), three more have entered since the launch.  The first eviction is tomorrow.  That's a spolier-free lay-out of the last few weeks.

It's exactly like George last year.  He didn't want all the fame.  Why did he want to go on Big Brother if he didn't want the public to recognize him outside the house?

Would Leo from CBB5 count?  He quit because of underwear.  I'm not sure....

I think Leo was dumb also. A dumb reason to leave, but that was a great episode wasn't it? LOL
Dirk really wanted to leave but stuck it out, that was nice.

I'm glad Dirk stayed.  It was him and Shilpa who made the show watchable.  If they were evicted, I would have stopped watching.

Phew.  You nearly gave me a heart attack.  Think that they'll have another Celeb BB this winter, even after the race row?

Yes, of course they will. It's just that Jade will NOT be invited back.
Or maybe she will be in a twist. LOL

Maybe they'll put in Shahbaz, just to make it up to the public.

So, how's the season going so far? I have not been able to download any of the episodes. My internet has been so slow, it's taking two days to download a 40 minute episode. Really frustrating considering I'm trying to download the new episodes of Doctor Who as well.

It's not as good as it was last year.  I miss Pete and Glyn.

So far, one of the most hated Big Brother contestants hasn't been nominated yet.  Think Ivette + JBlow, and then double that.  Once she's nominated, I think it will be a 100% vote to evict.

Some of the new male housemates are great.  Jonathan is really fun to watch, and the Twin's personalities are starting to shine.  The tasks are ehh, they could do better.

Oh yeah, and I found a blog online that has BBuk episodes on host sites.  No more Torrents!  Is it alright if I post it here on the forum?

I don't think it would be a big problem, but feel free to send me the link in a PM.
Rumour mill has it, this is a poorly rated Big Brother and lots of people are loosing interest this year.

Bad News:  The blog was taken down today for an unknown reason.  Guess it's back to torrents for me.

Hi Guys!

I'm interested to hear that this season is badly rated - I must admit I don't look at ratings but it's just as ubiquitous in papers and magazines over here as it always is, so it doesn't seem that way to me!

I think they probably made a mistake doing the all-girl thing to start with as some people probably tuned out rightaway, but I've stuck with it and my wife and I both agree that this is one of the best series in years!

I particularly like the fact that "Big Brother" seems to have a wicked sense of humour this year, making some hilariously sarcastic comments to housemates in the diary room, and doing some really funny things like the 7 deadly sins task, I was wetting myself during that one last night!

Anyway, I'm still watching and hope you guys don't give up! It has to be said though that Charley is possibly the most annoying housemate ever to exist in BBUK history and how she has managed to escape eviction until now is a mystery to me! She is just the worst type of person, actually she reminds me of Jade a lot in her stupidity, her over-inflated sense of her self-importance, her inability to talk to anyone normally without blowing it up into a huge fight, her complete unwillingness to listen to a word anybody else says... plus let's add into the mix her inability to stop preening herself in mirrors and her horrific jealousy if anyone gets more attention than her...!!

Anyway, I'm off home in a moment to hopefully download and watch last night's BBUSA premiere (there's a good overlap this year so we can all share the woes of having to download our favourite TV shows together!!)

Mind you, I don't think the UK puts out much world-class programming that you guys all clamour to get hold of, at the last count I was downloading about 13 series from the States that I can't watch over here (or I'm too impatient to wait for the newest episodes!)

Hey James!  Glad to see you again.

I agree with what you said about Charley.  Although I haven't given up, this season is so bad because of Charley.  It's like Aisleyne and Nikki combined into one.  And that result of two goods made a bad.

As for the all-girl twist at the start, I must say it turned me off too.  When I first heard about it, I liked it.  Then I saw the first daily show.  It was non-stop bitching and complaining about the lack of boys.  Ugh.

BBusa last night was an absolute hoot!  It was one of the best launches in years.  Not since season three have I enjoyed a premiere episode of BBusa than this one.  I hope you like it too.

Are you still watching??

Charley is making this unwatchable for a big section of the UK public I think!

And the whole fake eviction thing was a big letdown - if they'd given her a normal eviction and normal interview where she'd been herself and said what she really thought, it might have been worth it to see her go back in and get ripped to shreds, but she knew something was up so she was very restrained.

I'll be back when Charley leaves I think!

I have not been checking this out this year. The contestants and the twists didn't grab me. I thought the fake eviction was a great idea when I heard about it. Sorry to hear its a let-down. How was she able to see through it?

Honestly, I'm still stuck on the week during Seany's eviction.  I've been so far behind, that I might never catch up in time for the finale.  I'll still watch it, but I might not finish until months after the finale airs.

I've still following it online, and I might just forget about the episodes I have now and continue once Charley leaves.  You hit the nail on the head, James!  Charley is the main reason I haven't been watching.

Good news everyone!  Charley has been evicted!  And, we have new housemates!  I'm going to start watching last night's episode (and continue watching now) and watch the last few weeks after the season ends.

Woo-hoo!!!

There's been some good stuff over the last few weeks but honestly, the lasting impression is just of argument after argument...

Hopefully some of the new people will cheer things up a bit!

And Chanelle, when will you learn not to go back to Ziggy every time?!

James
