I loved Mirna throwing the toys in the care package so carelessly and then saying "I LOVE IT!"

Yay! I know the pit stop greeter.

I've gone to Fort Soledad two Saturdays ago... with the picture of Oswald/Danny's confessional in my hands... but I didn't think it was there!

I think teams were supposed to go to the Asan Bay Overlook first before the US Naval Base. I noticed that the Naval Base clue was not in any of the same frames as the team when they were in AAFB.

You know the greeter? How/why did she get chosen?

I was so sorry they didn't show the Asan Overlook but....

I just saw D/O on TES. Oswald said that there was a routemarker at an "Overlook" between the Detour and the Roadblock. They apparently had trouble finding the Overlook, which made them later to the Roadblock, which they felt contributed to their loss.

When asked why they were wishing for Ch/M for the win?? Oswald said it was because he regretted the "Teletubby" comment!

Hehe... know as in she was my classmate one semester... not that I see her often anymore or anything like that.

Yer, peach. I think I saw some shots of one of the teams (probably the Chas) heading up to the Asan Bay Overlook via Route 6 (Nimitz Hill Road, not sure if it's called that but that's where the Overlook is).

Looked at the tape of Ep 12 again and the teams probably did go to the Asan Bay Overlook to pickup the clue sending them to the Naval Base Guam.  When the teams pick up the clue after the detour at AAFB, you never actually see the teams looking at the clue - editors go to a close up of the actual clue with the teams saying what the clue reads only in a voice over which could have been post-recorded.  Probably had too much footage at AAFB and NBG and used up all the time on these two sites.  We jut lost some nice visuals of Guam, but nothing affecting the race outcome.

Makes me wonder how often there have been unshown clue fetches in all the previous seasons.  I think it is a smart production trick to use.  For making the show more interesting to casual viewers.  I just wish there was a published record of actual activities.  But then we would be out of business.

Oh No!

No wonder the soldier kept saying to "pack it with a little love"!

Somehow I don't think it looked too pretty when it was opened!

That was a long trek by Dustin to find the pilot. Those coordinates are for the WRP offices in El Segundo.

How did you figure that out Slowhatch?

chevy speaks...
ok....here is my take on the episode shown tonight. I was there in Guam at the time of filming and got to watch all 4 teams compete. The day before the teams arrived, the buzz around Andersen was that the Amazing Race teams were going to be on base. How exciting since I am a huge fan. So, I show up at work around 730. We (my coworkers and I) got to watch the teams arrive with their escorts. 3 teams peeled off and did the engine wash and Myrna and Charla did the care package. We watched them throw the stuff in the box. We had the benefit of a Dept of Defense Public Affairs officer give us the entire lowdown on the events. If you see them underneath the canopy, my coworkers were just out of camera range. It was pretty interesting watching them. I would guess it only took them 10 mins or so to build the package. As you can tell from the footage, they actually didn't load the package onto the aircraft. In fact, the package they did build was broken down and re-done by the military unit after the filming stopped. After the team put the stuff in the box, the team was escorted down to a bus and taken to the aircraft. The bus stopped near the plane and they ran towards the plane. After the plane took off, I went down and watched the other 3 teams wash the engines. It was interesting to see the teams in those yellow suits. We got to watch the BQs run by us, followed shortly by Danielle and Eric (he waved to us), and finally by O/D. It was a good 20 or 30 minutes before the C-17 landed and Charla/Myrna left the airplane (back on the bus for the short ride back to their awaiting vehicle). I was sure that they would be eliminated since it took far longer for their detour. The public affairs officer only told us that they were headed down to the Navy base and would be doing something with helicoptors. Overall, it was interesting to see what was actually filmed and edited. A note about the aircraft footage. There were some cutaways to show a B-52 and a C-5. There wasn't even an active B-52 or a C-5 at the time they were filming. Strange they included those planes in tonight's episode. I am rooting for Danielle and Eric win but wouldn't mind if the BQs won either. Myrna and Charla are on my last nerve with their "accent of the week".

The old-fashioned way.  Remember a few months ago I posted the notice about WRP looking for a secretary in El Segundo? It got me curious, because I only remembered the MDR office. After a bit of searching, I found 200 N. Continental Blvd., the China Airlines building. Since it's only a few blocks away from Fry's (local geek store), I decided to pay a visit. It turns out that the ES office is much bigger than the MDR diggs. China Air and WRP are the only tenants, and WRP seems to command the lion's share of parking spaces. Judging from appearances (the guard stopped me before I reached the front door), the "shirt-sleeve" work is done at MDR and the "front-office" work is done at ES.

Now this is more like it. When the pilot reprograms Dustin's Rino, you can see coordinates that match Oronte point, and a date--13 Dec 06--and a time (could be 15:37, but it's a bit fuzzy; I'll look for more examples).

Very funny  . Seriously, though, BVM & Co. are moving on; google "profiles television production" and you can see they're hiring in El Segundo (and elsewhere) as well as looking for contestants for Oprah's new philanthropy show.
Back to the Garmins. All four showed the pilots at the same place. And the LZ coordinates I got off of Dustin's Garmin. The photo below (kmz attached) shows the locations; the two points are about 680 crow-flight yards apart.

Maybe march 07 - September 07 is the total time for the show to be cast/shot/edited? With the 12th season premiering sometime in September? I don't know what it means either, right now my mind is focused on the finale *prays  *

(Sorry, Puddin. Didn't mean to scare you. TAR will go on. There are plenty of people capable of the day-to-day; but the corner office (not the cubicle crowd) is diversifying. If it will make you feel any better, apply here and get selected for the philanthropy show; Michael and me will dress like hoboes and you can do good deeds for us. After you win, we'll split the prize money  )

More editing nonsense. When the first two teams arrive in Narita, the BQs say something like, "we need to get a boarding pass." Then it cuts to a counter scene showing a passport: Jimenez 7781 (last 4 SSN?). Dirty pirate thieves!  When D/O finally arrive, their passports have been magically returned to them.
