ok i may have totally missed it cause I didn't see every episode (I think???) but was this the FIRST season ever that there wasn't a reward challenge that brought the survivors their familes or stuff from/about their families!??!

Yes, it was the first season with no family members.  It sucks, cause I look foreward to that episode. A few did get letters from home a few weeks ago.

Supposebly there were some issues in Fiji around what would have been the family challenge... I think that is why they got letters from home

When they were white water rafting... Dre, Boo and Yau.  at the end when they had a picnic.  Dre cried when he read his letter and Yau joked his daughter got a B and not an A in I think iw was Alegra.

We have been told that loved ones and/or family members were not on location in Fiji, only the second time in Survivor history that this has occurred.

The Survivor Africa players participated in a loved ones challenge via satellite, but the loved ones never made it to Kenya.

Travel plans for the Survivor Fiji loved ones were likely scrapped when Fiji found itself under a political storm during the scheduled production. The original deadline for the resignation for Prime Minister Qarase coincided, most likely, with what would have been the travel dates for family members and/or friends. The coup followed a few days after that, just as Survivor was filming its last episode.

there wasn't a family episode because of the coup that was happening in fiji....

and the constestents did not know of the coup while they were on the island, so im assuming thats why there wasn't a family episode.
