I'm not 100 % sure yet about the date December 2nd, but here are flights to the Malawi capital Lilongwe through Jburg.

The planes of air malawi have gone through a few redesigns--I finally found a photo with the matching flag/url design here. The schedule is a little puzzling (if I'm reading the route map correctly); planes leaving Maputo have to go through Nampula to get to anywhere else.

I feel this strange sensation--the power overcomes me--the force is upon me--the channeling begins--the veil is torn--the voices speak:

JUST GET OUT OF MY WAY!!!

But y'all love me anyway, right? right? right?
it wouldn't be the same without you peach and yeah we love you

OK, new scenario. The teams travel to Malawi by unknown methods. E/D get pulled off the plane at Lilongwe (photo source)  en route to Maasai-land.

clues:
**A high seas adventure turns into a nightmare for Charla.

**Eric & Danielle hit their breaking point when they're pulled from an airplane they already boarded.

**Uchenna & Joyce are overcome with emotions when they see local people who makes them think about themselves.

**Charla & Mirna gamble on an incredibly risky move that could mean the difference between life and death in the race.

There is a tramp steamer (no not the African Queen ) that runs on Lake Malawi--I've also found dhows, canoeing, and kayaking so far.

I think this shat was taken in the rotation joint of the passenger loading ramp.

Definitely not Maputo or Lilongwe.  Tarmac stairways for those airports.

If the flight is the one I picked then this should be J-burg.

The Jumping Dance ties us to the Maasai.  But they are not in Malawi are they?

So maybe Slowhatch is on to something and Lilongwe is just one more connection.

Just thought I'd chime in with some useless information about Air Malawi.     OK, mission accomplished.  Better get out of here before "peach" drowns us with her mounds of data, again....

...really, puddin, isn't there anything you can do about her???       Just kidding....

:-\  FWIW, the "high seas adventure" suggests a coastal country, BUT Malawi is landlocked (as I don't consider lakes to be "high seas").  So Malawi may not be the final destination, with the racers connecting through J-burg on Air Malawi to destinations yet unknown.

Work, you don't know the half of it, puddin.  Ever try wading through all these postings with a dial-up connection...it's not pretty.

:-\  This is weird.  Air Malawi does fly inside Mozambique, from Nampula.     Wonder what that means.

I'm so sorry Boingo, dial up sucks  !!
Seas, I was thinking that too and South Africa is more " Sea " or no  ?

anyway..

The Maasai are an indigenous African ethnic group of semi-nomadic people located in Kenya and northern Tanzania. Due to their distinctive customs and dress and residence near the many game parks of East Africa, they are among the most well-known African ethnic groups internationally. The Maasai maintain many of their cultural traditions while engaging contemporary regional and global economic, social, and political forces. They speak Maa. As of 2005, the Maasai population in Kenya was estimated to be 650,000 while the Tanzanian Maasai population was estimated at 643,000 yielding a total estimated Maasai population of 1,293,000.[1]. Estimates of the respective Maasai populations in both countries is complicated by their nomadic nature and their being the only ethnic group allowed free travel over the Kenyan-Tanzanian border.

The logo thing on the map is Nampula, apparently a regional/nation hub; to get to Joburg from Maputo you'd have to go through Nampula, which doesn't help our purpose. Chateau's match still makes the best explanation; teams get to Joburg (somehow) and from there to Malawi. Somewhere in the offing is the giant slowdown which forced the pitstop to be moved back.

This is driving me nuts so I guess we won't know the dealio untill the promo comes up
Malawi is really an ideal place to hide the racers from what I've seen so far
So far we know the Roadblock has something to do with the Maasai men ..hitting your mark etc..
then we have the night confessional with Uchenna & Joyce which fits in with the Phil interview which I won't repeat again so yeah I agree Slowhatch that this is where Phil was at the Pitstop at 3am, grassy area, mosquito's etc ..
So the Roadblock comes last, probably near the Pitstop ..and the one of the Detour options something to do with the Sea adventure unless of course there is a Fast Forward and Shmirna takes it but that doesn't jive with the clue "Charla & Mirna gamble on an incredibly risky move that could mean the difference between life and death in the race." and  blah blah blah g'nite
