Which team will finish in first place on this leg/portion of the race? Which team will be the first to complete the detour? Which team will be the first to complete the roadblock? Which team will make the highest jump in the standings from the previous episode?

(BTW, it's also featured on the coat of arms of Ecuador).OK, I did say it was a wild guess :-\

This is driving me nuts too! I've had limited time to look but knowing that puddin was looking for the building--I've concentrazted on this from an "antique" perspective... I have googled in a gadzillion combos--in Ecuador and Chile (just in case) and read blogs and searched photos for anything that included: Nautical or Maritime exhibitions Model ships Ship figureheads Museum/special interest/ displays--exhibitions--exhibits-- Sea-faring Magellan Tourist displays Bank displays All with no luck.... If anybody has a tourist info lead --I don't mind calling to ask about relevant displays but I've found zip/zero/nothing!

I'm also trying to catch up on all the phenomenal work on the roadblock/detours! Great job everybody! To be sure I have this right--The roadblock seems to be the museum--the detour is the change tire/ move earth task... Who/what is the flight screw-up? Is that getting to Atacama? Darn--guess they won't be climbing my dune... I'm still thinking this season needs more DRAMA! dare I say it seems a little blah so far? [attachment deleted by admin]

Peach, I think that only having an hour really hurt the possability of exploring either team drama or the difficulty of the drive and altitude int eh first episode. I also think the fact that all these racers are aware of how they have come across beofre on tv, and might choose to edit themselves (especially earlier before things really get tense) more careully. I expect the team drama to increase, I am a little more curious about the events and tasks. Like uyyourself I won't not only difficult tasks ut tasks that are visually arresting. And this looks like we have two weeks in a row where teh tasks aren't visually that interesting.

I agree--they can't script team drama--but theres no excuse for poor task drama! And episode one had the potential to be so much more! Don't they know they NEED me for a TAR task planner?! In case it will help anyone else-- a good list of Ecuador museums ...

Two sites come to mind which might be the place that the ROADBLOCK task is carried out in Quito:
Museo de la Ciudad
Museo Municipal de Arte y Historia

The promo editing suggests this is Rob starting Leg 2 during daylight hours, and I have no reason to think otherwise. So it's an 18/42 hour pitstop, then.

[So when does it get dark in Quito please?
PUDDIN, Quito is on the equator so it has 12 hours 8 minutes between sunrise and sunset in late November. There is minimal linger to the dusk, so the answer is about 7pm.

An 18 hour pitstop already? Right behind having a sleep-over with cots and all at a nice restaurant? Gee--that is so tough for our guys.... I know they are all hurting from the altitude--but somehow this doesn't seem like the "we're going to make it really difficult for them" of Bertram's quote... Or if it really WAS that difficult due to the altitude and the hard drive--then TPTB need to SHOW us that a little more. I still want my DRAMA! Chateau--could that shot of Romber be after the drive back to Quito o (4+ hours according to Whirley)--or wherever that darn museum is --would they let them drive in the dark? Does that change the time estimate at all?

Does that change the time estimate at all? He's getting into the car peach..I'll guess he's just leaving the Ranch. Also now I'm thinking that Romber do go for the delayed earlier flight but switch once they find out it was delayed and thats why they look like a deer caught in headlights . I wont be surprised at all with a 18 hour pit Stop. The producers generally don't have teams driving at night under really harsh conditions. And I think having several hours of (what we have several teams) calling the worst roads they have ever been on would make the producers hesitant to let them leave at hours where for all teams the entire length of the bad part of the road would be done at night. And Peach you are so right. The altitude has to be a killer, the road was a killer and that has to be hard on the body for extended periods. But the stupid ass prodcuers don't show us that or even talk about it. We have to read about the area or watch the extra clips to understand that the first episode wasn't a walk in the park. Apskip, does an 18 hour window screw with much of the flight schedules? And Chateau d If. I love that you get check in times for the teams. Love it. Can't wait to get confirmation tomorrow about how much time seperated all the different teams. And Puddin, wheres the damn museum (kidding).
