I'm having the same difficulty as Peach in finding good Stone Town maps. This one is annotated but kind of small. This larger one (435 kb) shows lots of street detail, but it's from 1953.

SLOWHATCH, just for you I went out and found a current better Map of StoneTown.  Use the control to resize portions of it for better visibility.

Thanks, that's a nice map. When Phil's preview arrives, we might get a few markers to help us locate the lumber task, the roadblock and the henna shop (I think the dhow and the dolphins are from the Fumba area).

Not a map exactly, but I thought I'd throw it in: a virtual hawaii site that has a couple of interesting pages.
  • The lion dance area labeled Star Ferry pier. I'm wondering if the racers were starting/finishing the Macau transfer and just happened to catch the fire safety campaign nearby. Does the timeline support this?
  • A Lanai page with panoramas of Shipwreck beach and Lanai in general.

SHIPWRECK BEACH - (KAIOLOHIA) (North Coast)
Accessible by 4-WD vehicle from the end of Keomoku Road (Rte. 430).Polihua Beach to Kahokunui. Primary activities are beachcombing and
shoreline fishing. Two shipwrecks are still visible. A shore stroller'sparadise, a real beachcomber's boutique. Home to some thought-provoking
petroglyphs - the Bird Man of Lanai

Some crude KL maps here, but also some interesting virtual GE tours: load the placemarks then hit the play button.

Is Lanai a possibility?        Any flights from Guam?

(or do all flights route through Honaululu...shit...i've never spelled that before...you know...the capital of Hawaii.   )

hound 109, youhave missed some months-old posts on the SPOILERS thread which addressed the GUAM to Honolulu portion. There are no flights Guam to Lanai. The F3 teams miss the daily 0600 nonstop CO002, probably because they don not reach the pitstop before 5pm on Dec. 15. They book on Northwest via Tokyo-Narita to Honolulu. They took either NW 81 departing 1545 arriving 1840 or NW 73 departing 1615 arriving 1905 to get to NRT. from there it had to be NW10 nonstop to HNL departing 2030 Dec. 16, crossing the International Date Line and arriving 0820 on Dec. 16.

From HNL there are flights at least every 2 hours to LNY on Hawaiian, Aloha, United, Continental, IslandAir, or Pacific Wings in the 0550 to 1940 departure time range. Flights take 30 minutes.

An OK street map from the Macau govt. tourist office. Lou lim ieoc (also spelled lou lim ioc) garden is near the center of the city, just west of Guia hill. The official address is #10 Estrada de Adolfo de Loureiro.

Tired of KL?  Debbie from TAR7 has an interesting idea: a Skyjump from the Macau tower. (I've noticed, though, that this season there doesn't seem to be a lot of the usual TAR-type activities)

Right like TAR10 they were climbing everything, it was almost as if it was a test for Sarah and we were like they have to climb something again ?

There better be at least one really nerve racking challenge before the race finishes...if there isn't I have a feeling TAR12 is going to be filled with them.

As far as HK goes, Google, Centamap (click English), and Hotmaps are all good choices. Maps/timetables/etc. for the local rail are available here.
